Coronavirus

Number of infections getting worse by the day.

I fear any vaccine related impacts are at absolute best a month away.

I think we need stricter measures to control the spread

388 deaths under the age of 60 and by all accounts 76,200 NHS staff didnt attend work on the 30th October.
Nightingale hospitals decommissioned because there isn't enough staff.

Imperitive that the NHS staff get the vaccine asap ( for a virus that 99.9% survive)

Crazy.

I am fairly high up the list for vaccination, but would happily drop down so that NHS staff/emergency services teachers etc. get it before me.

I not massively at risk as really don't see many people or go into crowds and haven't done for months. Probably safer if the hospitals are fully staffed if something does happen to me anyway.

Why do you keep repeating the narrative about 99.9% surviving? Is it true?

Over 0.1% of the UK population have died already so you would think not.

53k new cases today.

Which will come first, EPL announcing a break or Boris doing something?

9 of 34 Football League games postponed today due to Covid (plus another two for the weather...).

2.4m cases. 71k deaths. That’s approx 3.0% fatality. Obviously there are many many undetected cases to push that 2.4m up and bring the percentage fatality rate down but not to 0.1%.

Spain are keeping a register of those refusing the vaccine

Priority is getting vulnerable folk their first jab rather than two. The second hand can be 12 weeks later

oh, if only someone had suggested that.
That's what's happening

"
Throughout this global pandemic we have always been guided by the latest scientific advice. Having studied evidence on both the Pfizer/BioNTech and Oxford University/AstraZeneca vaccines, the JCVI has advised the priority should be to give as many people in at-risk groups their first dose, rather than providing the required two doses in as short a time as possible.

Everyone will still receive their second dose and this will be within 12 weeks of their first. The second dose completes the course and is important for longer term protection.

From today the NHS across the UK will prioritise giving the first dose of the vaccine to those in the most high-risk groups. With two vaccines now approved, we will be able to vaccinate a greater number of people who are at highest risk, protecting them from the disease and reducing mortality and hospitalisation."
