Coronavirus

Sorry mate totally ballsed up that one, no and please don't think I'm casting aspersions on your field of expertise but the question still stands, you were expecting it to be bad, it is bad, and you're shocked. even though it wasn't as bad as you thought it was going to be ? (and theres no high 5 involved at all)

And genuine answer, no I'm not happy with the governments performance, I think there has been a flippancy to the obvious and a catalogue of errors, I don't think anything has been done with malicious intent that is for people to think that just want to call Boris a cunt. There are things I don't understand, like I still don't know why it's the governments job to procure all the PPE. that was never the case before was it (or perhaps I'm wrong), I don't understand why the infected figure is still climbing at such a rate when we've been on lockdown for what seems like forever.
And i know this is sacrilege and I will probably get sent to hell for it but why do we not question the NHS procedures and methods with the death toll so high ?

I did expect it to be bad, but also I expected us to do more. As said above you don’t just accept the results of models and say ‘que sera sera’ - you do everything possible to prevent people dying. That’s surely the prime role of a government.

Calling people a cunt etc, doesn’t help obviously, but neither does blithe acceptance of a shit job meaning we are massively worse off than other countries.

NHS are a government body, not that you’d know that given that we seem to need to raise charity to support them - perhaps the fact that the NHS needs charity is an indication that they have not been governed or funded correctly?

You're enjoying all this aren't you ? Did you know you've posted 200 posts more than anyone else on this thread (It's actually 194 but no doubt you've got a fucking graph on it )

I don't know why i should find myself answerable to you ?

At any time feel free to man up and apologise for the shite you've been giving me across this thread Paul

By the way, remember that PPE we ordered from Turkey? We can't use it as it's shit. Stuck in a warehouse.

Hurrah!

This is scandalous and a failure of government and the Dept of Health procurement.

There are people in NHS trusts who are on very high 5 figure salaries who are stealing a living and will not be touched by people because they work for the NHS even though they are incompetent and inadequate for their jobs. They are failing their frontline employees. Government policy has failed here but these professionals should be booted as soon as possible and get proper procurement professionals in.

You would have to be a Band 9 with over 6 years service at that band to breach £100k a year. That's basically trust CEO and FD level.

Most heading procurement for individual trusts are more likely to be in bands 8a to 8c, so £45k to £73k depending on years in post in that band and actual band within the band 8 structure.

Deny the undeniable, Justify the unjustifiable, defend the indefensible and just delete what you you'd rather people didn't read afterwards

At any time feel free to man up and apologise for the shite you've been giving me across this thread Paul

Please see above for likewise, while you're at it Google 'sanctimonious'

I was going to post that you are being a bit harsh, but after googling the signatories of the letter above it would seem that the CCO for the department of health is a career HR manager [emoji2275]

I get that, and Piers Morgan (urgh) posted something recently about how people identify themselves only by being Brexiters.

But really, truly how are people able to ignore what’s happening? I genuinely don’t get it, how can you not be angry that people are dying at such a rate.

This is really interesting - shows that Italy were able to lock down and contain the virus and prevent other regions being as badly affected as the north:

The ONS has said that this data produced in the FT should be caveated with the fact the UK data is up to date and Italy, France, Belgium and Spain have not added their deaths outside of hospitals for April as they publish one month in hand.

The figures for everybody across Europe are horrific, it begs the question why so many have got it wrong policy wise.

or learn to use spell check when you utilise big words you can't spell x

Can you 2 get a room or fuck off with this shite please.

don't agree with each other?..fine but if it is just going to be posts sharing insults an ITV "comedy" would reject then just stop.

Ignoring the up to dateness of the data (though I disagree on France). The comparison with Italian regions is incredibly stark.

.

I used to supply data for the ONS, they'd send a form out once a month for a figure on a commodity import price that changed on every minute, I used to fill it in with the figure that was correct at the time, but could have been way out an hour later. I tried explaining this to them but their attitude seemed to be as long as you fill the form in that's Ok, everyone's done their bit ! That's why, whenever the ONS gets mentioned as the paragon of fact, I do have a wry smile

The whole way things are structured in the civil service is wrong IMO. You can't be having HR professionals anywhere near procurement or operations, they just can't do it. Mainly because almost everybody in HR I've ever met is an unhinged fruit loop who did some sort of psychology at University.

This is endemic throughout the whole place.

I know of two trust finance professionals on north of £70k and I wouldn't trust either with my kids piggyback and I have no idea how they got to those places and they've only ever worked for a government agency of some sort or another.

We need a huge rethink here as it's plainly obvious that politicians and civil servants without a clue of how the job they're in actually works. Raab and his Calais statement is the obvious example and shines a light into the incompetence at all levels we currently have.

She’s been hired in though, it’s not as thought she is in that role just because of time served.

People do have transferable skills so I wouldn’t like to be too harsh, but if you are in charge of procurement you either need to be a cips trained specialist or have a shed load of experience.

It is. I do wonder what will happen when all countries come out of lock down, particularly Spain and Italy as their lockdown has been far harsher than our own.

It's abysmal stuff, you might argue it starts with HR ;)

Apologies Kenny, Ben Elton told me people would ' get it'. I'll refrain from personal sniping.

So, it seems some people on the vunerable list are getting messages to tell them to shield until the 30th June now. With the "hooray" news doing the rounds today this is going to push a lot of people to the edge I think. A lot of lonely people who cannot see friends or family for what will be over 3 months whilst dealing with being ill is going to test their mental strength to the limit
