Bournemouth 1-1 Wolves (Bournemouth win 5-4 on pens) : Verdict Thread

Nobody going with the possibility that other clubs could look at Cunha and think, nah, he’s too much of a ill disciplined loose cannon who’s getting banned every couple of months, and he ends up staying here, that’d really balls everything up.
Just thinking out loud, I’ll put the tin hat on for the incoming flak

I don't think we were shite. Far from great, and I can't have too many complaints about the final result but it's not binary depending on if we win or lose. Average but clumsy, maybe.

It was definitely an improvement on midweek.
We’re just a one man team. It is what it is, but how we’re in this position only highlights the terrible managed decline from Fosun/Jeff & co.

Without that bit of Cunha magic, we’re nothing - and now we don’t have him for 3-4 vital league games (and are out of the cup). We’ve got no one else in our front line that I can put any faith in producing a decent run between now and the end of the season. Our defence is poor. Our goalkeeper is poor and error prone. We’ve got two nice central midfielders but they are what they are and we have very little in terms of quality backing them up.

Sure, we’re more organised now than we were under Gaz - it’s night & day on that front, but we’re a bottom end PL team who now has to cope without it’s best player and main (only?) goal threat. We lack discipline and leadership (and quality) throughout the squad, and I suspect it’s only going to get worse.

At the price to trigger his release clause most will risk it especially if they can rotate him in and out.
The next 4 games are like being in a Time Machine to see how next season in the PL will be like if we survive.

Nice little 4 week break for Cunha before he gets to stroll around for the last few games, not caring either way whether we go down or not, before he gets his big money move somewhere else as soon as the window opens. It’s almost like it was deliberate.

Anyway, I don’t know what everyone’s worrying about. A front three of Hwang, JSL and Bellegarde will fire us to safety 🙄

We were shite today & deserved to lose. I guess the way that it happened is peak Wolves. If we end up going down, Jeff Shi and all the other mugs involved with how we’re ran have only got themselves to blame - it’s been a long time coming.
Seething with Cunha same as anyone but to suggest he got him self sent off on purpose is just silly. What possible reason would he have, he loves the adulation, he'd want to have himself in the shop window as much as possible. He's just a prick.

Just to be clear, I’m not suggesting he did it deliberately. I’m just fuming with his stupidity. It’s a similar suggestion to one the other night that someone put up about feeling like Raul deliberately misses against us.

Apologies I misunderstood.

Imagine the nightmare he'd be in that scenario. Best to just cut our losses. there's always the Saudi wildcard if nobody here wants him.

See your point, but if you look at the history of players with terrible discipline/incidents moving for big money, or players in general, there aren’t many examples of players who how exceptional not moving to a big club because they’re ’abit of a madman’

I’d be interested to see if he could make the jump and be a big player for a big team, however.

Also, a 62.5m release clause with a proven track record in the premier league, isn’t as big of a buy as it was a few years back. You’ll have a about 6 or 7 transfers at that value and above this summer more than likely

Not a chance a PL won’t buy him at the buy-out clause fee. Much of his frustration and subsequent petulance comes from playing in a team with no players close to his ability. Put him in a Liverpool or City team and he’d be far less likely to behave like a spoilt child. He scores and creates, that’s what other clubs will see and his tantrums will be viewed against that.

Been working, so not seen the game. As the Cunha first ban was a retrospective one though it doesn't count as a red card, so should just be the 3 for violent conduct unless there's other shenanigans that went on?

He's a dick and his body language since he came back from the last ban has mainly been shite even when he's scoring important goals. We'll continue to indulge him because we don't have much choice once we've got this far

I agree as to why he behaves like that, however I'm not sure he'll cope well not being the main man and being allowed a completely free role to do as he likes as he has at Wolves. Grealish at City vs Villa being a reasonable comparison I think

Just watched bbc highlights

SJ positioning for first goal is baffling. Makes a couple of really good saves in extra time

Cunha goal is phenomenal

On another day we could have comfortably conceded 4 or 5 with their disallowed goals and missed chances

No idea why Cunha reacts like that, Moron

Penalties always a lottery. Still maintain a professional footballer shouldn’t miss the target from 12 yards, but happens again and again, so I’m clearly wrong on that front!

Put him in the current Liverpool team on the left and I’d be confident he’d score and create more than Diaz. If he’s playing and scoring he’ll be fine. No doubt the occasional wobble but not enough to put a big team off.
