Gasthaus Holzwirt, Ascholding: it is about 40 kilometres south of Munich.

The main course is Zwiebel Rost braten.

Who needs sex, when you can eat ice-cream like that.

Each to their own, and glad you enjoy it so much, but German cuisine is really not something I like.

Bavarian Breakfast at the Hofcafe am Stern.

Off to Malta tomorrow for a week. Looking forward to some sun and beers... We are forecast to arrive to thunder and rain
Greece is being hammered by thunderstorms and much lower temperatures, but after 3 months of 40 - 44c, i'm over the moon brian 😂

Be interested to hear your review of this, it's on our radar for late this year or early next.

Was thinking about this, went to Malta in February years ago and it was rainy and cold cold cold. Not sure if we just got unlucky and I’m sure plenty of people will have had good weather out of season, but it very much felt as though the reliable months are May to September and the further you move away from those more you are chancing your arm.

Always thought May or Sept were good times to visit the med as the chances of good weather still very high and the kids have cleared off back to school with prices still reasonable too. Got a week in Turkey early next month which is a bit of a gamble as temperatures can fall away pretty quickly in October, but if it holds up the med out of season gives a lot of bang for the buck.

We left Hereford for Cornwall on Saturday morning in a thunderstorm after 12 hours of thunder, lightning and floods.
It’s still raining in Hereford today. Thank God our house is on a hill.

Arrived in Bude and had a lovely two hour walk on the beach with the Betty the Poodle in the sun.
Went to Rock beach yesterday and had another two hour walk in the sun.
We are off to Crantock today. Weather is looking good.
It feels like we have made a great escape!IMG_0615.jpegIMG_0614.jpeg

It was fantastic! I can’t believe that I have been coming to Cornwall for over 50 years and never been there. A lovely day in the Cornish sun.
All that north coast is brilliant, right from Penzance up to Ilfracombe (except Newquay, obviously). You can't go wrong.

yeah, such an oasis. Properly beautiful place to arrive at and spend the day, and a lovely cove and beach.
thinking about holidaying there next year.

Anyone done Graceland? It’s a big birthday for the wife next year and I know Elvis (himself, more than Graceland itself specifically) has had a bucket list appeal, so am looking at putting a surprise trip together. I know Mississippi, and also New Orleans would be really fun and could be factored in to make a really special, adventurous (road?) trip, but it seems there are so many variations and it’s difficult to know where to start.

Booking a straight Elvis/Graceland trip online would be the easiest option but doesn’t exactly show the sort of effort and personalisation that would be appropriate. We do like to get stuck in, enjoy a good night out and a party, and embrace all opportunities, so am open to all suggestions from anyone who’s been to Graceland or that part of the world in general?
