Wolves - Norwich Match Thread

You're more than welcome LJ, thanks for the report. Sounds like a real Jekyll and Hyde performance.

Disappointed I missed out on meeting Jinky and T-Dan, hopefully they are about again soon.

Are you at Fulham on Saturday, Trips?

Most of my thoughts have been covered here already.

Ruddy - he is now literally on his final chance. One more cock up and Norris will rightly come in. Completely the right decision to hold the ball at the death when their GK was attacking, completely the wrong decision with what he did with it.

MGW - wow. So excited by him and watching him develop in the years to come. Should have set up a goal or scored one last night but he looks to have everything. Don't think he'll start v Fulham but he certainly should against Reading.

Saiss HT sub - think this was to get some minutes in him as he'll now be a guaranteed starter for the next two games at least. Should have done much better to close Oliveira down for the goal.

Jota - looks absolutely knackered and he should have come off instead of Cav.

Afobe - hate to be an 'I told you so' type but I called it on deadline day - he simply doesn't fit our system. He's wasted 5 or 6 very good chances now which cost us at PNE and could have cost us v QPR. He also looks too heavy to me. Not fat, but heavier than he should be. Has already ruined his chances of a permanent deal this summer. Leo now deserves his chance again, be it from the bench or starting.

Maddison - looks a very neat and tidy player but is also a bit of a tart. Don't see him in the £20m bracket just yet.

Norwich tactics - played a lot of neat stuff but also played a number of high balls straight at our defence, something we are susceptible to (especially if aimed at Coady). Surprised more teams haven't played this way against us.

Ref - he was fine. Nowhere near the worst we've had this season. Had we won 2-1 nobody would have been talking about him.

More from my Norwich mate:

"We are very good at keeping hold of the ball and playing around and in between teams as our midfield is littered with technically good players. Problem is we create very little at the moment!

Ruddy is a competent championship keeper although he doesn't command his box, is terrible claiming crosses, his kicking is rotten, shots bounce off him like a pinball machine and he is the only keeper i know who's more likely to concede the further out the shot is! Had a great spell with us to start with but stagnated. When you go up, you'll need a better keeper!

He's also notoriously thin skinned...

Angus Gunn is leaps and bounds ahead of him and will be looking for a Prem club next year if you fancy loaning him..."

Pass me the pipe. Gunn has potential to be an excellent goalkeeper. Ruddy is an excellent goalkeeper.

No mate. Thought about it but don't land back until late on Friday evening, and with the game being on TV couldn't justify the outlay.

Am sure there will be another time soon

I was pretty disappointed last night and I kind of understand some of the frustration shown from fans. A couple of draws in games we haven’t played particularly well, we almost threw it away against QPR as well and lost against Forest it does feel a little like we are limping towards the finish line rather than going up at a canter.

However when you look at the table we still have 13 points on third place and 9 on second which is ridiculous and every single fan would have snapped your hand off if offered that in August. Hoping for a big performance on tv on Saturday against Fulham now.

I really rate both Bright and Ronan but I think Morgan is better than both at just 18. We will do very well to keep hold of him!

Bit late but yeah from the bits I've seen of each I'd deffo agree. He's almost a mix of the 2. Seems to have the sight of Ronan (bar the chance last night!) and can follow it up with a good pass but he's not as lightweight and more like Bright, can hold his own and actually take the piss out of players.

MGW is a superb talent. He can be a mainstay in the team for years as long as we go to the level he is capable of being at.

You think he was thrown last night by the Norwich playing throwing his head at the ball whilst on the floor!!...looks funny on the replay...(also note the "tangle" Jota has in the background)

Easy to say sat in a chair but surely a pass across

Why did he turn back again? So frustrating - he did superbly to get into that position.

If that was Bright he'd have been slaughtered on Twitter.

I think if MGW did that again after starting 10+ games without much end product he’d get more stick too. That’s a horribly frustrating gif though, just roll it across to Jota or shoot!

He was expecting the defender to overcommit. Unfortunately he fell over so did not overcommit and slide past. Therefore when he cut back onto the right foot he was still in the way however I don’t understand why didn’t just take it another past him when he was lying on the floor Instead of just kicking into his head. Obviously could have just squared it also. However when he lifts his head up the defender hasn’t fallen over yet so he doesn’t see that the pass is on. very frustrating to watch back!

I loved the touch to put them all on their arses. He will learn what to do next over time. But the ability to do the initial touch isn't something that can be taught. MGW is going to be majestic in a Wolves shirt.
