Wolves - Norwich Match Thread

Plenty of ways we could have put the game to bed from 2-0 up, but we didn't.

You couldn't say they battered away at us or anything, but I thought they were fair value for a point.

First time this season I checked my watch to time 3 mins added they looked worryingly on top and scored they were as lucky as we were at Ashton gate. Saying that we should of held em out but hey ho move on.

The highlighted stuff, plus poor ref decisions, plus the way we $#@!ed chances up, handed Norwich a point. You don't agree they were lucky? Fine, you're entitled to your opinion, but I'm entitled to mine too and I maintain they were really lucky.

35yds shots go in from time to time, and our defence and goalkeeper do switch off from time to time, our manager made arguably his first tactical error of the season, shame it all happened in one match. Cost us 2 points, unluckily.
No, all that contributed to why Norwich weren't lucky. Lucky is a dodgy refereeing decision, a massive deflection leading to a goal, the opposition hitting the framework of the goal on numerous occasions, none of that happened. On the balance of play in the second half where they were the better side they deserved their point. Just because we contributed to their point does not make them lucky

I don't think they necessarily deserved a point. We had as many as, if not more, chances than they did in the 2nd half. It was our own fault for not putting the game to bed, and occasionally it bites you in the arse due to a 1 in 100 chance happening.

Well, Norwich are a much weaker team than us. They're ok, but they're nowhere near our level if both teams play to their best. They've gone 2-0 down away from home, yet dominated possession, had plenty of territory in the second half, forced some saves, got us playing purely on the counter and ended up with a draw. Fair play to them.

I would say that we deserved to beat Spurs away in December 2009. We massively performed above our ability and they didn't cut us apart or anything.

If you look at the stats then they had 19 shots to our 3 and more of the ball. But they didn't do enough to win. We scored and then defended well. Norwich went two down and then fought back well. Fair play to them. It was our own fault but they more than played their part.

Whilst I would agree that the changes didn't work for us, I actually don't think it was the reason we didn't win. I'd put that down to poor decision making and sloppy play when we were attacking as well as a big error from Ruddy.

I think we drew in spite of the tactical changes, not because of them.

Really struggling not to pull my "they got a point and therefore deserved it" line...

Without having watched the game, bringing on Romain for Costa made some sense to me at 2-1 up. Clearly, though, it didn't work out as Nuno hoped.

Doesn't make sense as we next to never play 3-5-2.

We're not very good at it as it turns out.

It didn't work, no. Nuno has barely put a foot wrong so far but I don't think this was the right call. However, we still should have scored in the 2nd half despite the players not looking too comfortable and if it wasn't for a speculative 35 harder that Ruddy saves 99 times out of 100 we'd have got away with an undeserved win. Norwich might not have had many guilt edged chances but they kept the ball very well, were always probing and never gave up. I can't reality argue with the result, I'm just frustrated in the manner of it.

We've done it a few times before without it having bitten us. Again, not seen it play out, but in my mind it feels like it was subbing on Afobe that really made our tactics go a bit pear shaped.

Not really, we chucked on a load of attackers vs Forest (not so much 3-5-2 as three at the back and everyone else as far forward as we could get away with) when we were 2-0 down (and still lost 2-0) and were already comfortably winning vs Sheffield United - much more so than on Wednesday - when we went that way so it was an irrelevance.

We didn't even go that way vs PNE, God knows what it was we tried when we took Alf off for Ben. We soon switched it back anyway as it wasn't working.

That's it. We didn't try it at all before Afobe arrived as far as I remember. Again we had a mad scramble of chucking attacking players on vs Cardiff, but it wasn't 3-5-2.

I definitely recall us having gone to it a few times other than what you mentioned but for the life of me I can't remember the exact matches. Regardless, I get the theory behind it, and as I say it didn't exactly work.

I promise you we haven't :icon_lol:

:surrendered:

Probably do us good, we've bounced back before after defeat, I think we'll do Fulham and Ruddy will be sound.
As Nuno keeps saying we have to stay humble. You don't win games by taking things for granted.

I'm with Dan.

We have not done that before and FFS let's not try it again.
3 up front we would have won the game

We played with Afobe and Leo up front against Sheffield United for the last 10 minutes.
