Wolves / Covid-19

I see football rivalry to be one of the positive, largely unique aspects of the game.

Given that fans and media will gravitate to the games that have that rivalry far more than the games that don't suggests that the majority agree with that.

For the record I'm not saying football rivalries are anything to be sneered at (although Villa ain't no rivalry really). I love proper derby days, I just personally (and wish others would) show the same level of support for all games.

yes. I go to see my team. the only interest I have in the opposition is how many we're gonna beat em by :)

I find this a strange point of view given there are always two teams on the pitch. But then I like football as a whole and love to see us playing the superstars when they come to us and how Nuno and our own players deal with them.

I think we are in a situation where our team is so good compared to the pap that we have been served up with over the last 35 years that one of the joys is seeing them compete against the best of the best. I loved the Man City game, and to be honest I loved the Liverpool game too, even though we came out second best in the result. It was two awesome teams going at it hell for leather. Gone are the days when the big boys would come to Molineux and rest half the first team and still beat us easily.

In the end I'd enjoy beating Crawley more than losing to Liverpool, but the in game and pre match emotions wouldn't be close

If you're playing Crawley then Wolves are going to have worse players than if they're playing Liverpool.

So I'll have the latter thanks. I can do without watching Zeli Ismail running straight into defenders.

See - I have my memories of under Mick in the top flight where if a big team was coming there was hope of a miracle and yet dread of getting annihilated. And Mick got his fair share of decent results against the big boys to be honest.

Now Nuno has jousted against the Sky Six by my reckoning 22 times as we still have second games against Arsenal and Chelsea to go. The only thraping was the Chelsea home game this season and that was simply a hideous day at the office. We don't get hammered normally because we are too good for that.

EDIT - that 22 is in the league only. I did enjoy smashing up Ole twice in quick succession. Very much.

We're a better team than Arsenal now.

And Spurs I would argue. We can revisit Chelsea in 9 matches whenever it happens but I would be amazed if Frank gets us on an off day again. The only teams I class as genuinely better are City and Liverpool, and of course we have doubled City this season and got an excellent home draw last season.

I remember saying it at the time, but if you'd been watching that home game against Liverpool and you didn't know the teams and someone had said, "This is the Champions League semi final" you'd have said, "Fair enough, cracking game."

Precisely my thoughts. It was absolute quality throughout. Fair play to Liverpool for getting over the line on the night. In terms of quality, one of the best games I have seen.

I came away from that game gutted we lost, we should have put them away. Ultimately my team were beaten I'll never enjoy that feeling walking away from a game as much as a match they win irrespective of opposition

It was one of the few games I've gone away being upset as we lost, but then again not as we pushed the runaway league leaders that close - was more upset losing the home game to Spurs really.

Would I rather be watching us in league 1 beating any team with a side that can't put a candle to the current crop or going up against the best in the country & really competing even if we don't win - I'll take the latter.

I notice the shit have started refunding match tickets (info re season ticket holders to follow it says) for home and away games.

I would imagine we wont be far behind on that. I suppose if Olympiacos is in August there is a ridiculously small chance it might be with a crowd but it is obvious that the league games are definitely closed doors affairs.

We've been refunding for a while I think, but you have to ask them for it. I sent a mail for the Bournemouth game the other day and they responded pretty quickly - it will take a while for the cash to actually make it's way back to me though (28 working days, I think?!)

Realistically I don't think there's going to be any games with supporters until at least next year - I can put that money to use elsewhere in the meantime.

Yes refunding on request as I pointed out further above in the thread that's allowed regardless of Covid 19.

My point was with the shit they've started doing it for all automatically based on the obvious fact supporters won't be attending those games and as such officially confirmed fans won't be at those games.

I guess Wolves maybe waiting to see what's happening re the Premier League before announcing, you'd think they'd want to crack on now though to be honest may as well get people processing refunds whilst not doing anything else.

Premier league is apparently going to debate next week how the season should be decided if it’s abandoned.
We can all guess how that’ll go Villa and Norwich “no relegation, null and void” Bournemouth “weighted PPG is fair”
West Ham “PPG or void it”
I think West Ham will be shitting themselves at the moment, Norwich and Villa no matter how it’s cut are going down unless the season is played out.

Can someone tell me how it work for us on each of the options available if they don't finish? Just out of interest.

All options would see us finish seventh. Sheffield United would move above us with their game in hand. So weighted PPG please as it ensures West Ham and Villa bite it.

Cheers, must admit I'm struggling to get any interest in it at all, I did/still do want them to finish the season If possible for the integrity of the competition (and to be fair teams like Leeds and the shit do deserve to come up, as well as Liverpool much win the title)

Have no interest in them starting a new one if its without fans though, I'd rather that be put on hold till fans can attend.
