Wolves / Covid-19

Gets the 14 vote to go and start though doesn’t it by forcing the bottom 3 in.

Can’t see any of the top 10 not wanting to play. Arsenal will feel like they are back in it, and realistically only one of the top 9 is missing out on Europe. Think City may as well play, they are missing Europe regardless so may as well get the money in from this season. Everyone outside bottom 6 will feel safe will want the money and genuine PL security by playing.

Yes, if they are defaulting back to the 14 team rule. Originally they said they wanted to speak with one voice though.

I don't think that is going to be possible so they will fall back on 14 team rule and West Ham and Brighton will just have to go along with it. This guarantees that Norwich Villa and Bournemouth will now vote if favour so they have 17-3 now.

That’s clearly still the plan but I think there’s going to need to be a lot of negotiation for that to happen. Progress to the stage of footballing definitely happening and then start to tackle the “How”.

Have a strong feeling the bigger clubs in the PL have got severely pissed off with the bottom 6 and have suggested this to force the season to resume.
Whatever happens now I fully expect someone to be pursuing legal action further down the line. But teams taking action over playing on neutral grounds will have a much weaker case than those taking action over a null & void.

You can sue for anything these days so probably. But they shouldn’t really have a leg to stand on. It’s not going to be completely fair (home advantage clearly bigger for shit teams), but it’s more fair than PPG, ending it currently or null/void.

The ideal scenario is the current 3 go down and then cases will be naturally weaker.

I’ve said it before, Sheff Utd will probably have a lot to lose from this. Their home games are all massive games against rivals so won’t have the advantage there. All their hardwork could be undone starting the season but they still rightly want to.

The bottom 3 should take any chance they have even if it is neutral grounds - ppg on the current table sends them all down anyway (even if very marginally for Bournemouth).

Probably it's only BHA, Wet Spam & Watford who are sweating on it - outvote them & tell them they play or forfeit the points.

The argument over playing on neutral ground is unfair but null & void is legitimate needs to stop. It’s the ultimate defeatist attitude neutral ground means we’re doomed well no it’s doesn’t.
I’ve not heard a convincing argument against playing on neutral ground.

Pros off playing on neutral ground:
Completes all fixtures as is as fair as possible in current climate
Can be completed in a shorter window
Allows the resumption of next season sooner
Means fewer ground staff and officials will need to return to work
Prevents congregation of fans outside grounds

Negatives
Sides lose home advantage especially those who’ve got more home fixtures
It’s slightly different competition to the one that was started in August
More travelling for playing squads

Pros of null & void
Allows more time to plan next seasons resumption safely
Allows minimal disruption to football calendar
Allows out of contract players to move on 1/06/20

Negatives
Destroys integrity of league pyramid
Rewards failure over success
Legitimate law suits against PL, EFL & clubs who’ve pushed for N & V
Wipes all records off the board from the last 9 months.

Facebook just reminded me this is now over a year ago. This is really not how I imagined this season ending, I miss it a lot at the moment

Just seen a suggestion that the remaining matches should be taken over game situation after 60 minutes to produce results. This would cost us 17 points and we would be relegated. WTF !!!

Think it was hypothetical league table based of Gordon Taylor’s buffoon idea of shortening half’s, we’d be a lot closer to the top if was based on the last 60 minutes of the game.

A table that demonstrated how stupid Gordon Taylor's idea was. Nothing more, nothing less

League One and Two to be abandoned.

Can’t seem to c+p from the athletic app anymore (well done to them!), but this is the gist of it

Does this mean we have Luke Matheson available in our squad and some of the other lads who've been out on loan?

No. He would have to be registered in the squad at 31st of Jan and he wasn't.

How would they weight PPG based on home games left?

That sounds worryingly subjective...
