Wolves 3 - Sheff Utd 0 verdict thread

Re watching the highlights the noise the crowd makes when Neves scores is unlike any other I've heard at molineux

These are special times

"Lost fair and square. I`ve been bollocked off recently after out playing teams like derby and villa and bristol city etc.... and ending up with bugger all. but today we deserved the loss, perhaps 2-0 was about right, other than the two goals, Moore had little to do though wolves looked threatening everytime they went forward... very much like we used to do under the days of pre burton away

other notes...

Holmes did ok, like the look of him.

Bash does so well going forward until the time he has to release the ball. then it`s followed by a collective sigh.

"We miss Duffy ... quite a bit

The ref , again, was star struck, How Holmes can be continuously fouled, how George gets scythed down with a dangerous challenge which was almost a leg breaker, gets nowt but a throw in and a telling off by the ref to take it easy on wolves`s foreign tarts.

Costa & Jota, didn`t they just love throwing`em selves to the deck, Obviously in the black country they are only fed on cornflakes, too timid to beat a gust of wind. While meanwhile there were runs from George, Lee, John & Ricky with boots clanging against their shins and yet they still tried to keep their feet.

Moore ... well i don`t know, think he came out to head, got his stride wrong and the foot was a reflex. Unfortunate or daft?... really don`t know. Down to ten men meant the game was nearly over, the jammy deflection of Clarke meant it was.

Vital we beat leeds next to get back any thoughts of the play offs, they look a long way off after today. The new lads should be clicking better soon but please put in Duffy and possibly Sharpy v. leeds.

Wolves despite a few nancies and the leniency of the ref toward them were worthy winners. Still don`t like `em, old gold shirts they think... er, it`s a shit orange lads, worn in a shitty ground in a shitty town. But good luck in the prem."

Come the next war of the roses...I know who gets my vote :)

Think he's got a point on the keeper's challenge on Jota. Commits very early and comes steaming out but by the time he realises that he isn't getting there in time he's too far gone and just sort of throws his body in there hoping for the best.

I'm just enjoying this season and haven't given much thought to what might happen next season or beyond that.

The one thing I can't help but think about is that in Neves, Boly and Jota we have 3 players who would be regulars in top 6 premier league sides. We're in the championship FFS yet have these guys playing for us. What the hell does the summer have in store as a premier league club?

I don't understand this way of thinking at all. I don't think it's quite dawned on some folk yet that Fosun intend for US to be one of the big guns and a European powerhouse. And while we aren't there yet, they aren't going to get rid of players that are going to help get us there unless it's to replace them with even better players. Time to start thinking big...

Spot On, we can't assume success but I believe what Fosun told us when they took over. After an understandably dissappointing first season due to timing of T/O and losing the target manager. They perform a stroke of genius getting Nuno here. I wouldn't back against us being top 8 in the next 3 years.

The keeper punches Jota in the head having not read the bounce of the ball. It was Neves who picked the pass and it was what he was good at, making defenders commit and make mistakes.

The fucking idiot has no point at all.

People are deluded if they think that if a Real Madrid or Barca or Citeh put a £50m bid in in the summer that we wouldn't have to sell Neves.

We might be on a path to greatness but we're nowhere near yet. Like Langer's I'm enjoying every game this season and I'm looking forward to next season too.

You realise the 2020 Champions League final is in Lisbon...

Watch it again Mark...He not only has his foot/leg into Jota's body but also connects with a fist to the head. That was as nailed on a red card as you will ever see. Stupid by their keeper but a red all day

To be fair he did manage to punch him in the head and kick him in the throat at the same time, quite a feat for some one who mistimed something !

They would have to pay a LOT more than that.

Indeed. If I was in the Western supping a couple of fine ales before midday, I wouldn't want to think too much about the euphoric state of drunkenness awaiting me at the end of the night - I'd enjoy every sip of the tasty guest ales I'd have to sample on the way.

There is every possibility of huge bids coming in for the likes of Neves but money isn't the issue its the players. Neves has said he is very happy at Wolves and is at a club that is very much on the way up, he has been at a larger club with limited playing time before so would he want to do that again? If we go up and show some serious ambition, and I have no reason to believe we won't he gets to play in a better league with better players around him at still a very early stage in his career.

Fosun are not messing about, god only knows who our targets will be once promotion is sealed??

I agree with the sentiment that we should enjoy Neves as long as he is here but the only team I really fear in terms of him leaving is Porto.

I'll respond to you as you've decided not to randomly throw insults at a stranger.

I'm not disputing the red card at all, merely that I don't see it as a particularly malicious assault like others apparently do. The keeper has come to sweep up but he's already too far gone by the time he realises he's second favourite for the ball. I think at that time he panics, yes his fist hits Jota's head but at exactly the time Jota heads the ball, he's trying to punch the ball for me, which highlights how lost he is because he's miles out of his box at that point.

It's a terrible clumsy challenge, not unlike many we've seen lately, and one the keeper should never have committed to, the red card was completely deserved but I don't think his intention was ever to injure or hurt Jota.

What a load of shite Mark. Anybody would think you're being contrary and attention seeking for the sake of it.

'Yes, his fist hits Jota's head' - he was nowhere near the ball with either fist or foot but he did take Jota out.

Wasn't talking to you Mr Sweary, come back when you can be civil.
