Wolves 3 - Sheff Utd 0 verdict thread

It will me like the Mahrez and Kante situations. You are always going to lose them. Only advantage is that we have time on our side with them being young and they have already experienced the CL. But realistically 2 years from now they won't be playing for us unless 1) they don't live up to hype or 2) we are seriously pushing top 6. Both those outcomes unlikely.

I don't see why we can't persuade them to stay for a bit longer. Fosun have big ambitions and the best way to fulfill those is to keep the best players. It sounds crazy but if we keep them and add players of a similar level in different positions we could be very close to the Champions League places in 2/3 years. If they do go then we will be getting mega money and hopefully we can then replace them with players who aren't far behind them.

This was a top quality game for the Championship and kudos to Sheff. Utd. for coming to play.

As Wilder said, they couldn't 'get a glove' on us as we were so good. We definitely turned up for this one, and as a team we were superb.

That was absolutely gorgeous stuff. Every single player on that pitch today was brilliant. When we play like that, it matters not how the opposition play.

I have no doubt this will be the last team to come to Molineux looking to play.

Depends on the predicament of each club visiting. Ie Burton might be in last chance saloon, Hull might be desperate for 3 points etc. It’ll be interesting to see how Derby approach things when they come here.
If 8 teams do come and try and park the bus maybe 2 of them might scrape a draw.

I'm not so sure. Teams won't be able to afford just a point as we move to the business end of the season. And some teams simply aren't able to shut up shop a la Sunderland.

We were brilliant yesterday - stop worrying about when Neves will leave, just enjoy having such a class player wearing a Wolves shirt.

Lovely to meet Aikiwolf, Lycon nice guys thanks for the hospitality.

What a fantastic performance, that performance does not belong in the Championship it belongs in the top 10 of the prem.

The 1st 2 goals were stunning, they belong in the top 6 of the Prem.

Take that team as it stands and put it in the premier league we would finish mid table.
A fucking delight to watch the noise and singing was fantastic loved it.
My voice is gone it's still in the southbank, Aiki loved standing next to someone who sings that much.

Thanks to all i met yesterday sorry
I did not get chance to speak to Dan much yesterday.

On Neves & Jota I don’t think it’s anytning like the Kante or Mahrez situation.

The Nuno & Mendes factor is not to be underestimated. No other club has that relationship or set up in place. If they can persuade Neves & Jota to play in the Championship, If we’re pushing top 10 next season and adding to the squad, they can persuade them to stay longer.

I’ve mentioned this in other discussions but the players don’t seem like the type to act like arseholes either. I think we’re on to a winner with this set up, I really do.

I don’t think the big guns will come calling until next January. We’ll make an absolute killing on them when they go though

I don't understand this way of thinking at all. I don't think it's quite dawned on some folk yet that Fosun intend for US to be one of the big guns and a European powerhouse. And while we aren't there yet, they aren't going to get rid of players that are going to help get us there unless it's to replace them with even better players. Time to start thinking big...

I think next year we will be looking to push on towards the top four. Fosun will want to exploit the Chinese market so expect a globally recognised signing (or two). Money isn’t an issue and we have demonstrated our ability to bring players most would consider out if our reach so I fully expect something similar next season.

Manchester City and Chelsea both came from where we are now and spent big to establish themselves at the top of the league and get regular European competition. We can easily match their spending power.

I completely agree. I think that Fosun's ambitions are the very highest and I don't think all of our fans have caught up with them yet. I expect us to be a top 4 PL side sooner rather than later.

And I know in the past you have said something about who you think they might target as a global market signing and you got pretty much laughed at by most people. But I would not be at all surprised if you are proven completely correct as soon as next summer.

Chelsea and City were starting from a Better position with a far greater recent history. We have spent the last 35 years in the second tier or lower predominantly whereas Chelsea and City have pretty much been top tier clubs in that time and in Chelsea’s case top half finishers.

United, Liverpool and Arsenal are probably the 3 biggest teams in the country yet all 3 have struggled to stay in the top 4 recently with unlimited spending power.

True but all completely irrelevant to what Fosun aim to achieve and it completely ignores the fact that we have an unlimited access to the largest agency in Europe... Other than that you're right we are inevitably going to be scrapping around mid table at best for years to come...

Christ, lets not get carried away and just make sure were not anywhere near the bottom next season.

If you offered me mid-table in the Prem next year right now, I would snap your hand off.

Let's not run before we can walk, talk of Top 4 challenges next season is extremely premature.

Well I don’t expect us to be in midtable, Burnley are 7th FFS! It’s just not going to be as easy as you make out.

We won't be. We will be top of the second league within the prem. I would back us to finish around tenth now, and that is before what I expect to be a stellar summer of recruitment

Everyone is setting their ambition too low. Anything less than winning the Prem next season is unacceptable.
