Wolves 2 -3 QPR Verdict thread.

I disagree that Austin's goal was quality. It was a good cross but Hause gets caught underneath it (though he was marking his player just fine) and Golbourne gets the wrong side of Austin. He doesn't even jump to head the ball FFS, he just guided it into the net as it literally hits him on the head.

On QPR's behalf it is a quality goal, a great whipped in cross and a very good header that was miss-able. I think if we had scored that everyone would be saying it was a fantastic goal.

They are mate because everyone wants wingers. The formation works and it will work for ninety pretty soon, it wasn't the formation that cost us and neither was it that QPR figured us out we just stopped doing basics and thought it was easy (not helped bu the crowd ole'ing after 30 mins). It would help with more modern full backs who get forward and can cross but we are more than a threat with the way we are playing.

I can't believe people are saying we don't look a threat when everyone pretty much said we were guilty of poor finishing against Hull and last night we scored twice and Afobe had 2 excellent chances in the second half and really should have scored at least one of them. Austin's goal was quality but apart from that the only chance QPR had was when Martinez saved with his feet.

Martinez tipped another one round the post for a corner in the second half.

I've actually thought of another, a header at the back post but they weren't great chances in my opinion. Afobe's chances were much better, he went wrong foot on the first one and the second should have been rolled in near post rather than across Green.

I was in shock that he missed Both. The first with the outside of his foot was criminal but you know what he tried to do.

The first QPR goal was good. Golbourne v Austin is a huge mis match so not much he could do anyway. Yes he was wrong sided but it was a great cross and a great run from PL players. Sometimes you just have to accept that.

My biggest quibble with the first one is how easily we gave possession away in the first place. Same applied on the second too but there were multiple issues with that one.

Not having proper wide players as an out ball doesn't help. I don't think we have time to be messing about waiting for this system to settle down, 1) as it probably won't and 2) the results will be pap for ages if we do. If we persevere with it there's a strong chance we'll be muddling along in mid table after a dozen games which is no good.

The most baffling thing to me is the move to this system. Why? What purpose will it serve? The old system was pretty good when we added Afobe to it and all that was really needed as TT has said is a replacement for Sako. It's a crackers way to go when put into perspective.

Jackett said he wanted a more fluid system.

In which case he's a fool if he really wanted to do that. Far easier to build on what you've created for 2 seasons in a system that worked and worked well..

Mind you he does say a lot to the press that's total rubbish. Mainly transfer rubbish but it's still rubbish.

That's a bold statement!
I disagree. I think we got found out for a lack of plan b last season. Ironically now we have a plan b, we don't have plan a!

McDonald was the first player off the pitch at the end as well. Just walked straight off on his own as soon as the whistle went.

If he is being so childish then bye bye. Go and join JOH at Fulham. I know in this day and age players have to look out for themselves and he has done well here. If he feels he is worth even more then negotiate it behind closed doors dont go all sulky. He is hardly skint probably getting the countries average wage of 26k every fortnight for his troubles. That for a second tier player sums it up. His tackle re Hull was outstanding but Coady has been better in the first 3 games overall IMO.

As regards plan A and Plan B- Spot on last years no plan B did cause us issues and while its great to have one now Plan A looks a lot weaker. Still time I suppose and maybe a few tricks up the sleeve

Surely you want Jackett to extend himself as a coach trying to move forward system wise, also to give his ear to his new first team coach who obviously has theory as to how best to gain consistent results.
Wolves fans have accepted limited coaches through the decades, ones that roll out the bog standard 4-4-2. We should applaud a bloke looking to extend himself and his players.

Time will tell whether or not it will work but we have seen some very good play under Jackett - it just seems in the (very) early parts of the season that we might run into the same problem we had last season of not being able to play well for the full 90 minutes

No team plays well for 90 minutes, its how you manage the game when your opponents have the ascendancy.

and that is where we failed on Wednesday night. The defending for the three goals from midfield, back was attrocious.

I agree with that and it's pretty negligent to forget Plan A completely. A combination of both plan A and B would've seen us comfortable Wednesday night. Moving to plan B completely isn't a coach extending themselves but being negligent to his team. Or Wolves recruitment team has failed do spectacularly that plan B is the only option, which I fear is more the case.

It's just not logical to change completely from what works to something that takes time to change to. We lost out on goal difference last season lets not forget, it wasn't like we finished 15th.

Its early season so we cut the players some slack if they dont quite understand the system at the moment.

I'm all for a more fluent system but when the balls lost each player must know where he must track back too.

Dave Edwards at times when caught infield I would have thought should track back in a straight line rather than back towards a flank position. Quite often Coady or McDonald have been pulled wide leaving a central position wide open, I would have thought it was then Edwards responsibility to get back and fill that hole.

I think the problem too is changing the personnel but not the tactics. If you bring ALF on a new vocal point you change your tactics to utilise his strengths. It's the same with Ojo coming on, you change tactics and try and leave space behind he can use his pace to benefit us. I don't know if Ken is been stubborn with the formation or if he's just being out manoeuvred thus far.

Hangin out my arse this morning. I love this town.

Wolves let us down last night but as bad as we were the south bank were much worse. Chanting Ikeme's name at 2-2? What the $#@! is that all about? Genuinely embarrassed for anyone who joined in with that.
I was in the south bank and me and my bro dished out a few pieces of advice to the idiots chanting that. Also booing Karl Henry whats that all about.
