The formation clearly works. It doesn't work for 90.
On the we lack width debate, worth noting that both our goals came from balls coming in from a wide position, from Henry, the sole wide player on our team.
I can't even work out what he's trying to do for the third. Straight from the Taibi school of goalkeeping.

Surely it took a deflection on its way to goal??!! Speaking as someone who enjoys playing in goal, he started to his left and then had to readjust to his right. Deflection? Swerve? If not it was bloody awful.
I don't think it does at all. Looked even worse in the second half when we bring on a penalty box striker and proceed to give him absolutely zero service in that area. I can't see what positives it's bringing to us at all. We played a pretty standard 4-4-2 after Afobe signed last season and although it left us a bit open at times the points return was very good, as was the number of goals scored and chances created. We have now signed Coady to bolster the midfield so getting played through should be less of an issue. But we've ripped it up and gone with a formation which blunts our attacking threat and makes us more vulnerable defensively, it's terrible.
We absolutely battered them for 40 mins. Is that in spite of the formation? In which case I feel you're being harsh

I didn't think he was overly chuffed when I saw it live either and at first I wondered if it had been ruled out as his reaction was almost downbeat.
I'm not convinced the players like this new system at all.

I'm really hoping Ojo can get up to speed because Edwards on the left is torrid. He's best behind a lone striker when there are 4 other midfielders to cover his aimless flapping.
Wouldn't say we battered them at all, we were miles on top but that's because they were five yards off the pace. How many saves did Green make?
