Verdict: Sunderland 2 Wolves 0

Dyche
Ange
Potter

Spoilt for choice.
There isn’t much more to add, following the comments made on here this evening.

All I will say is 2/3 of these wouldn’t even pick up the phone if Shi gave them a call and the 3rd has a possible offer from a club who isn’t rooted to the bottom of the league.

It’s a sorry state of affairs.

best bit of today according to social media was 3 pints for £8 in Sunderland spoons.

he's basically dismissed those high quality Nuno years as us being a bit lucky, so what hope is there. given all the advantages Premier league clubs have it's hard not to wonder at how we've ended up where we are. It feels more like looking into the abyss than managed decline at the moment. i appreciate we've been in a lot worse positions, but not from such a strong starting point.
It’s mis-managed decline. Lop got us out of the shit three years ago, Pereira last year. Lop had the good sense to walk when he felt promises were broken and though he had a squad capable of staying up he wanted to be aiming higher than survival. Pereira did a great job last season but then saw three of his most influential players sold and replaced with hugely inferior players. I think he should be doing better with what he’s got but the real blame for the shambles we’re seeing unfold is undoubtedly Shi, who has overseen a transition from top half team to relegation certainties. There’s no miraculous escape on the horizon this year.

We're just not good enough. Nowhere near. The new signings, brought in to replace Premier League quality players simply are not Premier League quality players. BUT THEY ARE IN A WHOLE NUMBER OF CASES INTERNATIONAL FOOTBALLERS, PLAYING FOR THEIR COUNTRY. THE BEST IN THEIR LAND!!!

I don't doubt their efforts, but I do doubt their ability. FULLY FLEDGED INTERNATIONALS, PLAYED ALL OVER THE WORLD!! HOW CAN THIS BE??

It's going to be a very tough watch for the next few months. YES, BUT HOW CAN THIS BE? HOW ON EARTH CAN WE BE IN THIS POSITION?
I hate every fucking club in the Prem, looking at the fixtures, seeing us and thinking 'There's a nailed on 3 points!'
Hate it!

Teams like Wolves eventually go back down. It just takes a few bad recruitments and/or lack of investment/ambition and you're gone. Trying to finish 17th each year is a risky strategy. Sadly Fosun have hastened our demise. Whether by arrogance or incompetence, not sure. Both, probably. This team would probably struggle to get back out of the Championship. It's just so... lacking.

For me are too many player out of position.

- Muntesi its midfield, role defensive, and are all time playing in forward.
- Andre-Gomez are playing 100% games, and most of games are walking.
- No have Right Wing ofensive and Left Wing ofensive.
- Arias and FerLo are similiar player, i prefer FerLo because its more tall player, and more younger.
- Larsen are a lot alone, many times he run up to presoure, and rest of player are running down to defense, he played better whit Tolu.
- To many defenses, and all defenses have bad level.
- To many times pass back the ball, finishing the first period i view Gomes receibe alone, and have like 4-5 player on area to receibe a air ball, and he pass to defense, and that option of send air ball, are losed.
- To many bad long passes and shots.

For me the solution its put more midfield players, and less defenses.

From the BBC gossip page today.

Wolves are not expected to make any major signings in January and likely to hang on to their key players, including Brazilian midfielder Andre, 24, who was a target for Juventus last summer. (Mail - subscription required)

There’s no hope.
There’s no point spending any money. Damage is already done. Wasting more will just put us in more shit. We’re already taking a loss on pretty much every player we’ve signed. Larsen, Gomes and Andre are steadily losing value.

I said weeks ago I’d take a refund on all our summer signings. We’d be better off long term if they weren’t here. A sensible option would be selling off all the silver in January and tanking and rebuilding for the championship.

VP needs to go, sadly. His DOF, his new recruits, his tactics. One problem. Who, at the Club has the knowledge to come up with a suitable replacement? I think we`re down and I can`t see us coming back for a good while.

How many of that cocky pricks long throws today were foul throws? 50%? fucking appalling officiating. Amateur level stuff.

This is the end of the line from a journey that started in May 2021. We all know the history of it so no need to go there.
For a side that’s in its 8th PL season our squad is a disgrace. Can’t hide behind PSR and that crap either.
Smaller clubs doing far better at managing the player in and out scenario than us.
Our best 2 players don’t and aren’t expected to create anything that’s not their role.
Any of our previous 7 seasons we probably have enough to win today but today was an example of how we’ve finally bitten of more than we can chew in an attacking sense.
Arias isn’t the answer and if he is it’ll come too late proper Henri Camara style.
12 without a win in the league and 9 defeats no win in 6 months.
Yep VP had a rough deal but that stat alone should have you living on a game by game scenario.
The lack of genuine football knowledge by Fosun is so apparent and is finally playing out for everyone to see.
The most staunch Fosun defenders can’t argue that this is a complete failed effort this season.

Teams like wolves never usually get to the level we did. We were fucking there, but them every single decision after that has been flawed.

Weve had one decent manager in all of fosuns tenure, one. Others have had spells but nothing like good enough.

It's all on the way Fosun decided to run things. A few decent signings here and there but every season has been us get worse.

Clubs that’s sole aim is to exist and live hand to mouth each season go down.
When we’ve entered panic mode especially in 2022 and last season we’ve proved it’s actually not that hard to stay up when you make a concerted effort.

I think Lop was decent. He had ambitions higher than survival so we’ll never know what would have happened if he’d stayed. He handled his departure very badly but that doesn’t change the fact he was competent unlike Zenga, Lage and O’Neill. Lambert did what was asked of him but was only ever a stop gap.

Oh, did anyone else think it was a handball (i don't) and that Munetsi did get fouled (i did) Commentary said he got the ball, the ball didn't appear to get contact at all to me?

Also a moment in the first half when two of their lads crashed into oneanother and he gave a foul against JSL was outrageous. They scored not long after.

Another weekend where one questions their sanity for following Wolves away. Still there in our numbers, but when you hear the Cutrone song being sung, you know you’re in trouble.

Think this ranks as reason 20 out of 20 as to why we lost today
