Watched the game with my wife at The Boat Inn at Whittlesey. Also present were five Leeds fans, who were as worried about their team as we are about ours. They couldn't believe their luck by the time their third goal went in, and when our second hit the back of the net they were convinced they were going to blow it.
With ALF and Byrne on we were a much better prospect, but heads were down and belief was gone by that point. That the high point of the game (for me) was Edwards being subbed says a lot about what's wrong. The trigger has to be pulled NOW so that a new manager has the whole of the January transfer window to wheel and deal. As Edwards flatters to deceive, maybe there's a manager somewhere who is desperate to take him off our hands, and for an amount which allows us to buy a couple of quality players in return. Yes, I know, dream on!
We shall see if the Moxey phone call during the game was something relevant to KJ's tenure. Again, that's wishful thinking, but we really are into "clutching at straws" territory now.
What really hurts is that so many of us can see what's wrong, and yet nothing changes. Edwards and Henry will STILL start the next game, 4-2-3-1 (or is it 4-5-1 now?), and one striker remaining isolated from the rest of the team. I've never been so depressed at the thought of a forthcoming Boxing Day and New Year's Day as I am at the moment..
