Poor performance and points thrown down the toilet after being in front. Done by two great strikes but the defending was ultimately too deep and too poor after we waited too long to make changes.

Shite first 30 mins but we really stepped up to them and the goal put us on top from then on. But then we started sitting back for no reason in the second half after being well on top, and couldn't seem to play through them pushing onto us.

The changes in midfield 2nd half were a good 5 mins too late IMO. We'd started to sit deeper and deeper inviting them on for a good 10 mins, which eventually led to their goal after trying to pass around and out from the back way too often. Then another long ranger which will probably get blamed on Doc but he'd done a reasonable job directing him off into the central areas. No-one in central midfield even bothered to get close to him as that area was bafflingly vacant. Free shot right in front of central defence with no-one anywhere near him.

Ultimately not good enough all round. Took us too long to get into the game, then we couldn't kill them off when we were well on top. Waited too long to make any subs and paid the price for sitting back and poor defending once again. Blame is largely on the manager for me.

Is that one win in fourteen now? Relegation form by some way.

We played decent at times but the changes/lack of changes at the correct time surrendered any initiative and then outright weakened us. Doherty - terrible, he is leagues below Premier League standard. Lazy. Liability.

We're not going to win a game until November probably, at which point we are in serious danger of dropping unless the promoted three and Everton are just as bad. Coach not up to it personally.

Newcastle were never going to score then a flukey deflection gets them level. Terrible sub in Doherty and it's all over. He shouldn't make another appearance for us.

Positives

Mosquera
Dawson
Midfield
Larsen
Bellegarde
Forbs looked decent

Negatives

Doherty

One win in 16 I think?

Trying to find the positive. Encouraging to some degree. Newcastle started well and it took us a while to get to grips with them... but we did and then we started to play. A good goal and we have the lead. Then we decided to sit back too deep and not close down and before you know it, it's 1-1 because we didn't do the basics of defending. Sorry Mario, but you worked your socks off all game but that was just as much a crucial part of the game as your goal.

Then the sub. Semedo was blowing and while he performed well defensively, he didn't give us anything going forward. Unfortunately, we don't have adequate cover while he builds up match fitness and Doc simply allows Barnes to waltz past him and fire home a superb match winning goal.

Frankly, a draw would have been a fair result but our wasted opportunities always left us open to something like this. As for Newcastle, not that great and should have opened us up a lot more with the options they have. They'll know they got away with one here in taking the 3 pts. Barnes was the difference.

Out and out negligence to have someone as clearly awful as Doherty in a Premier League squad. He was pulling that shit 11 years ago against Swindon in League One. You bring on shit like that (while we ignore the RB we signed this summer for reasons) and this is what happens.

Always felt we needed a second to kill it off not least as you simply can't see us keeping a clean sheet against anyone.

Bang in trouble, already.

At least André looks good.

The teams that go down are usually the ones that get zero unexpected points off the top sides. It's no good saying "let's see what happens." Forest just won away at Anfield. Where as we just let a team beat us that barely had to be competent for more than 4 minutes.

Too much is being laid on what happened at the end of last season.
No wins in 4 and only one draw is poor but you have to remember the teams we have played.
Let's judge when we play more of the middle / lower table teams.
Yep because ignoring the terrible results/performances under Lage at the end of his first season ended well...

The situation is frighteningly similar.

There’s a glimmer of hope in that we were much the better side until we took off Nelson and André, IMV.

The way we shattered after that was nothing less than disastrous. The line between decent and crap at this level is vanishingly thin and the likes of Doc absolutely hurl us from the acceptable side of the fence to the shit side.

André does look an immaculate fit for us and we still have good talent across the pitch at the “top” of our “depth chart”. But holy shit do we fall off a cliff after that.

I just don't see a scenario in which we aren't relegated. We are so poor. Feel sorry for Andre, he already looks too good to be playing for us.

Got to recite the tale of Kazenga LuaLua ripping him to shreds in 12/13. You could see it coming a mile (and decade) off.

Nothing less than an abject failure of game management from O'Neil.

2024-vintage Doherty is absolutely dogshit, and we probably don't lose if he doesn't come on, but we already know that. At some point you don't blame him, and you start blaming whichever dipshit put him on the pitch in the first place.
