Wolves 0-1 Arsenal: Verdict Thread

Re; the bit in bold - I’m sorry, but this genuinely made me laugh out loud. If you don’t think the Cunha situation is a problem, I’m lost for words.

Just finished listening to the latest episode of Wolves Fancast and they went in on him double footed. Probably went too far. But essentially saying Cunha’s attitude sucks, is far more noticeable in the ground than on tv. Said he literally turned his back on teammates at times, throwing his arms around at Hwang etc. Said his teammates and his club need him, and us the fans - we need him, but he’s sulking and obviously wants out.

Personally I think we need him to do a Sako at this point. He’s coming across sulking & moody at the moment, but as soon as that window shuts he knuckles down and gets back to his best, because we need him.

Cunha with a sulk still offers more than most of our attacking options. Still goes back to the reason for the sulk is still down to the lack of quality around him which is what’s hampering us most. The fact that you’ve pinned all our hopes on one player just highlights how unbalanced the squad is.
Had the squad been better assembled the Cunha sulk probably never occurs.

The Cunha situation needs sorting and fast, his attitude at present stinks and it's causing problems in the dressing room and that's spilling over onto the pitch.

At present he's a liability and since boxing day and his ban his football is below par.

Will that improve if he doesn't get his move only he can decide?

Having a good transfer window would’ve helped

Oh I get that our ambitions are not aligned at present but he's still our player and gets paid by us, totally unprofessional..... not a particularly great attribute to show to prospective employers.

His attitude doesn’t help absolutely nevertheless I think he’s very much been affected by the cause.
My concern is that window closing won’t improve his mood.
Also knocks off a few million off his transfer fee in the summer and big clubs will still see the bigger picture.
Reality is even with him in form we’re still bang in trouble as to many holes existing in other areas and I don’t think him improving will bridge the gap.

Ban for Lewis-Skelly overturned.

I'm not surprised, but I would like to know how that's different to Semedo's at Anfield on the final day of last season, which meant we had to play Matt Doherty at right back in a back four in the Premier League in 2024.

I know some Wolves fans have tried to talk themselves into it, but it was a ridiculous decision and another gross failure of VAR.
Not really, studs up into the calf and ankle - VAR is never going to overturn that.

I was surprised in the ground it was given as a red but a challenge like that is never going to be overturned. And if it's been roles reversed I doubt the ban would have been overturned as well.

It being overturned on appeal is a failure of VAR, that's the whole point of it.The calf and ankle stuff only looks bad in slow mo, there's no force to it. It's a trip, nothing more, nothing less.

I thought it was fairly common knowledge that he conned hundreds of thousands of fellow players

I just don't think the appeal is successful if the teams were reversed.

The volume of noise about this from the media is why this has been overturned.

Imo it's probably not even in the top 50 poor VAR decisions.

Trod on his foot at worst. It was the side of his foot that hit the ankle, then studs on top of his foot. Gomes’ was way worse

It was half way up his shin with a ton of force over the top of the ball. Stone wall red card!

Whilst I agree that it’s not a proper red (and nor did I think was Nelson’s, as Dan mentioned), I do think that regardless of the force, making contact with studs on an ankle or calf is always a shit tackle. Maybe not a straight red but a yellow for certain IMO.
