Think movement makes a massive impact on this, very few players in that squad happy to have the ball in areas that the opposition don't want them to have it. That restricts passing options massively and leads to the extra touches and generally lethargic tempo. You simply can't play quick football if people aren't moving into new positions.
Central midfield is a big issue for me, should be the beating heart of your team, always an outlet, always wanting the ball, dictating the tempo and dominating the game. Wolves are too passive here, and have been for a long time, too easily forced backwards or retreating in line with the centre halves to get some comfortable touches in. It's no wonder they've struggled to play through the centre of the pitch for so long when there has been so little change of personnel in that area.
I agree with a lot of this but there are lots of examples of the movement being there and the pass not being played. I also noticed today that Pereira sat on Neves to restrict him getting on the ball and as such we often had to go from CB into the forwards. Also, there were probably 4/5 times in the first half with Collins on the ball where MGW drifted infield leaving acres for Jonny to move into but he never moved into it which is surely tactical?
