West Ham 0 v 1 Wolves: The Verdict Thread

If he can get coached into some consistency he will be absolutely breathtaking.

It's not consistency, it's learning how to play as part of a team.

All of our inside forwards bar Cav could use lessons in that at the moment tbf.

I still thought Adama played as a member of a team moreso than Jota and Costa today. Just needs to do it, *ahem*, consistently.

He didn't though, did he. He ran into people, he virtually never passed and he never made a useful run. Until the very end when we should have played him in once and when he scored.

He has a use and a vital one as it is. But if you're asking him to be a world beater - he has some immense physical and natural gifts - he needs to basically learn how to play football. Not "do the good stuff you do more often" because that is not enough.

And he passed back to Moutinho a couple of times when he otherwise would have been doubled up on by Cresswell and Diop.

Bravo Adama. Two passes.

I'm not even having a go at him, I'm just saying "consistency" is not what is missing from his game. What we get is remarkably consistent.

But what you said just isn't right. He didn't "virtually never pass" and he didn't "never make a useful run". It's just not the case.

Sorry Alan but that's just bollocks. Jota may be losing the ball a lot but it's not like he's trying to win games on his own, and Costa is playing more of a team orientated game than he was under Zenga/Lambert which is why he's not shining quite as much.

You know what mate, you do rub me up the wrong way trying to tell me that I haven't seen what my own eyes tell me. Multiple times on multiple subjects (often when you can't possibly have seen it, accepting that isn't the case today). You should probably rein that in a touch.

No way do I agree with that; Jota ignores too many passes when they come on and Costa gets tackled off the ball with alarming ease. They're both way off their potential and way off the standard we should be accepting from them.

You've just done exactly the same thing to me.

Ok, have it your way. Adama needs to be more consistent at running straight into people and falling over for non-existent free kicks 40 yards from our own goal. Do that more than the 100% of games you already do it.

You're so contrary for no fucking point.

Got to say that I am a Traore fan especially as an impact sub. His crossing has already created chances in short cameos and he showed today he knows how to finish. Jota and Costa are still adjusting and they need to and quick. Cav being back puts their place under threat if they don't perform to a higher standard.

Traore brings something completely different to the table. Granted he has flaws but he has pace, skill and an eye for goal. 18 m sounds a lot until it's put into perspective

I don't know what to tell you, you're one of my best mates on here but if I disagree with you I'm not gonna be quiet. Especially when I disagree as much as I do in this case.

It's not consistency in my eyes, it's what it is with a lot of young pacy players - The awareness to look up and make the correct decision. Walcott used to do the same too, it'll just take time and good coaching.

Can we agree that a) Traore definately isn’t the finished article and has a lot to learn and b) he’s creating chances and has now scored one as well, which is pretty good (and probably better than Diogo and Helder at the moment)?

The forum keeps trying to make me post twice at the moment - don’t know why, my posts aren’t THAT good..

I think that's a sound reading of the situation.
