West Ham 0 v 1 Wolves: The Verdict Thread

Well chuffed with the result and while maybe not at our absolute best, probably the better team overall. Traore is gunna be one of those players that drives you nuts 75% of the time but has you outta your seat the rest.

He was very sloppy at times today.

Not really, got caught in the first 10 minutes which was crap (and they nearly scored) and didn't dictate the game as he normally does (even at this level) but it's not like he was giving the ball away constantly.

Fair play to Doherty - much better second half. Shite in the first half as usual, stop getting in behind and then totally stopping the attack. Second half, when he got the ball in those positions he was much more positive.

I think it’s great that he can share the workload of running the game. Saiss was great for us last season but In Joao we genuinely have a player just as good. No surprise he was able to win the ball high up the pitch for the goal

Joao is an absolute magician. 100% should still be a Champions League player.

Good result in the end,was worried about us ending up with just a point!.Overall a good shape on the team,I am, like a few others worried about the form of Jota and Costa, they are losing and or giving the ball away far to often and are not making enough runs down the channels.Raul, although missing a great chance is at least getting himself about and making runs and causing problems.
I would go again with the same team but make changes if there is no sign of improvement against Burnley, well done lads and enjoy the extended break.

Agree on Doc second half. He worried me first half against Cresswell and whoever joined him out wide but he got better as game went on I thought

Also think Nuno got subs spot on. Vinagre as one of the front three was very positive

Amazing to think that Traore was running so fast for his goal that Cresswell missed his attempt to trip him up as well....

First half was basically all that side. Every team will attack us down there for obvious reasons. We decided that Cresswell was vulnerable as he turns like a skip and Antonio doesn't track back very well so we'd go all the way down there.

What the fuck have they bought in that Balbuena? Terrible.

I had to listen to the first 20 minutes of this because I was driving to the airport. On Talksport. With Motty commentating. He really needs to retire, just gets excited and doesn't explain what's happening on the pitch.

Overall, strange game. West Ham have zero confidence, so in the first half we had all the possession but were fairly happy just knocking out around the middle of the park and didn't really take the game to them. I thought Doherty had a decent game on the right, he makes good runs, but often lacks end product. Neves was quiet, but was instrumental in the winning goal by winning the ball in the middle. Great link up play between Leo and superb finish from Traore.

West Ham were beyond poor, and the atmosphere was shocking from the outset.

Special shout to Patricio- he kept us in the game with two quality saves. Second game running after his worldy v City.

Just saw Raul's miss again. He gets pulled back as he runs through, not a total excuse for him, but puts him off balance.

Its a great challenge on himself though. Top defending

Thankfully it didn't matter though

Still should have buried it. Shame for him as I thought he was superb throughout.

Anyone catch Rui & Coady having a heated chat with eachother after the final whistle? Wonder what the beef was there?

Rui chats a lot to Coady, looks heated because Rui always looks pissed off. He will either be talking about the Arnie chance and how Coady got beat or someone was out of position just before we won the ball back to win the game. Just a top Pro not settling for things, always wanting improvement etc etc

Really could hear Rui shout a few times today. He does look quality.

There was a great shout on a cross in the 2nd half. Doc was about to go for a header but the West Ham player he was with gave up. Clearly fearing for another thunderous top corner strike I think his shout blew his head off and the ball went out for a goal kick
