Welcome to Wolves Diogo Jota

And you may find yourself living in a shotgun shack
And you may find yourself in another part of the world
And you may find yourself behind the wheel of a large automobile
And you may find yourself in a beautiful house, with a beautiful wife
And you may ask yourself
Well...How did I get here?

Speechless. (Can't stop smiling for long enough.)

Has anyone been tracking our dads for promotion with the bookies?

My Dad's chances of promotion have slipped lately. Bookies are spot on though, he can hardly walk.

When we signed Neves I suggested he'd be the best player in the Championship... I was wrong, that is more than likely Jota. What a signing!

Holy crap. Our midfield is suddenly just fucking awesome.

For those asking about the odds - there is a slight shortening but nothing too significant. However, as other teams move we seem to have gone from about 7th favourites to fifth, and basically there is a fag paper between us and the third favourites. Villa* and Boro are the favourites

*Fuck knows why.

"Are you the new Man City then?" ~ my Utd friend

Bloody hope so mate!

If we sign a big name striker then I can see our odds dropping quicker.

I'm waiting for it to happen so I can whack a promotion/top scorer double on us. I may even wait until after the first three games as they are tough and our odds will drift if we get off to a bad start.

yeah, has to happen really..could be our last signing of the window but hoping for a good CM also next to Neves..

Welcome Diogo. Fantastic signing. Now a striker and, if we're play in 3-4-3 a decent RWB. Perhaps another centre midfield as well?

It won't pay out (or at least confirm at the outset it will) - associated bets/related contingencies

I've been consistently backing us as the new signings have been made - largely on at 16/1 for the title and 5/1 and 11/2 for promotion. These odds have shrunk with most bookies but you can still get 13/1 for the title with Paddy Power and I think one firm is still offering 5/1 for promotion against a general 3/1 and 7/2. If I were to have another bet, SunBets are offering 9/4 against us finishing in the top 6, which I think is great value. The odds will definitely lengthen if we lose the first three games: would I wade in again? Maybe, but I'd want maybe 33/1 for the title at that point. Look back to last year though: Newcastle lost the first two

Thing to remember with bookies odds are that they don't represent the sporting chance, they are designed to entice money while keeping their potential outgoings to a minimum. Thus if we're say 12-1 for the title this morning and someone lumps £250k on it our odds would crash but not because we were any more likely to be champions.
An excessive bet like the above could suggest insider knowledge (bookies really don't like that), though it could suggest blind optimism or stupidity (bookies really like those).
So what I'm saying is that adding Jota has not attracted much money to bet on us, however much we might feel he's improved our chances.

Just asking to have £250K would cause the odds to crash. "No problem at all. You can have £200 at 12/1 and the rest at 2/1."

Interesting point though - Newcastle were about 2/1 at this point last year. If we added a top striker, would our starting XI really be much weaker than the one Newcastle had in the first game of 2016/17?

Apparently Diogo's name is Diogo José Teixeira da Silva, and I noticed he plays with the name Silva on his shirt.

Don't know why he's called Jota by the media.

Diogo J. on his shirt before..maybe he has done a Dele Alli, or an Alli the other way around

He's known as Jota, but the FL refused to let him use that name on his shirt
