Things that make you SAD thread.

Awful news Paul...My thoughts are with you and the family

I can only echo what others on here have said. Heartbreaking news Paul.

I know the NHS is sacrosanct and nothing derogatory about them is allowed but my niece has just had two midwives turn up at the door to see how mother and baby are doing as on their notes their had been problems, I know it's not their fault but for fucks sake.

Jeez. I bet the midwives also felt proper shite. Someone dropped a serious bollocks, there.

sad, but with some happy bits.
attended my mates funeral today. really surreal, a funeral with masks and social distancing.
whilst it was very sad, it was also really nice to learn that my friend meant so much to a lot of people, and was loved by so many.
went on my own, so didn't know anybody. only person I recognised is in ac/dc, which adds to the mindfuck experience!
I'll always miss my friend mind.

Had a phone call this evening to tell me that one of my brothers, Joe, had a massive heart attack late last week. They stabilised him and he's still on the intensive care unit. They are now trying to fit him in for a triple heart bypass, possibly on Wednesday.

Thanks Phil and Ray.

It's not his first heart attack but it's the most serious one he's had... A few years ago he managed to have a minor heart attack while playing cricket, of all sports

So was he already in hospital when he had this heart attack? If not, he's lucky he had someone around him that knows what they're doing.

No, he's been working from home for over a year and not got much exercise so not really looked after himself but his wife works from home too so he got REALLY lucky!

Just received a text from my niece back home stating my sister isn't doing too well and she's resigned to the fact she'll probably not get better.
The hospital are trying to get her home with palliative care as soon as possible which is gut wrenching

That's awful Ray and no chance of getting back to see her?

It's my eldest grandson's 11th birthday today and all we can do is videos and photos, no visit.

Can't wait till all of this is over!

I just text my niece and she is in pieces.
I've asked her if I need (or if they think I need) to come over and am waiting for a reply
And I agree, I too are like you and want all the crazy to be over

Really sorry to hear this Ray - mut be even more difficult if you are elsewhere

Here there are exemptions in exceptional circumstances so hopefully you can get back

Ran through Stafford town centre this morning, in daylight for a change. Must have seen well over 15 rough sleepers, was shocked to see so many.

It’s been over 4 months since I’ve been on this site and also close to 4 months since I have had any interest following Wolves given recent events . . .

Late last year my best friend passed away from a very aggressive form of bowel cancer - he wasn’t even 60.

What compounded the situation is that he was denied access to cancer screening for 6 months due to the State Govt’s denial of hospital visits for any such requirements during the height of the COVID lockdown restrictions.

To say his family and friends have been devastated (including myself) is an understatement.

We have received advice that if the screening had been allowed to take place (he had previous scares a few years ago and has been religiously checking up every 6 months) then in all likelihood he would have been able to have the cancer treated. But by the time he eventually got tested it was too late . . . I have never seen someone pass away in such a short space of time, literally, physically as well as emotionally.

Well I was so angry I have managed, over a period of a few months, to procure the services of a legal team, working pro bono, to seek compensation from the State Govt for his partner. She was, of course, keen, but was in no fit emotional state to go through the gruelling process of dealing with the State Govt (heartless fuckers) and the numerous law firms that we canvassed, so I took it upon myself to help her out.

Unfortunately, due to COVID delays, we probably won’t be able to go to court for a number of years given the huge backlog of cases.

In addition, at the same time, my mum (aged 84) living in New Zealand has increasingly become frail and my sister (who lives in Auckland) has asked me to come and see her as she fears she’s slowly slipping away.

Again, due to current COVID restrictions, you are not allowed to leave Australia unless you get permission from the Federal Govt. So far, my application has been denied 3 times !

Fortunately, in the last week there appears sign that a travel bubble might open up between Australia and New Zealand so I can fly over and see her . . . fingers crossed.

Given these 2 highly emotional and fraught events I have had no interest whatsoever in Wolves (not even catching up on results) - it wasn’t until the news of Patricio’s injury was on the 6 o’clock news (as it was against Liverpool and the link to Raul’s horrendous injury) that my interest was piqued again.

Catching up on the results and watching the extended highlights of close to 20 games in the last week or so I haven’t missed much, I’m sad to say. Hopefully it’s due to the impact of COVID and the lack of a pre-season.

What has struck me, is that I’ve followed Wolves for close on 55 years and in all that time I’ve always sought and tried to catch up on what was happening, even in pre-internet days, when they were in the 4th Division.

Now, with the state of football as it is and the lack of crowds and emotion, I fear my passionate attachment to the club and the game may have been irrevocably broken . . . only time will tell.

Holy cow, that's terrible. My thoughts are with you and your mate's partner.
