The wolves Way

I don't think I'm interested in partaking in a league I have not the slightest hope of ever winning.

I used to feel that way too, until I realised that the Premier League is in fact 4 leagues in one.
There is some flexibility in the actual placings but

PL 1 is the top four - doesn't change much
PL 2 is the upper middle - playing for European places
PL 3 is the lower middle - who try to get in PL2
PL 4 is the bottom section - who try to avoid relegation and get in PL3

If you look at it this way, then the prospect of promotion to the Prem. changes as you realise that after the first step of promotion the next realistic step is to establish yourself in the top end of PL4/bottom of PL3, and then build from there.

Aspiring to 8th place in the Championship, maybe we should line Colin Lee up as our next manager while we're at it.

It's like when people say they'd rather lose the FA Cup, although that does have a bit of logic to it (not overworking players so much, etc).

I get wanting to see Wolves win but IMHO it's clear as crystal that finishing 17th in the Prem is a more successful result than finishing 1st in the Champ.

I would like us to get established in the PL, we belong in the top flight..wolves one of the clubs that started the football league

Under Morgan and Moxey's stewardship, I wouldn't mind betting we see a spell in League One again before we see the Premier League.

Yeah. Cos you really saw it coming last time didn't ya? InshaAllah

Never heard of once bitten twice shy? No way will it ever be allowed to happen again.

If I was a betting man looking at the next ten year cycle of Wolves I would bet on 50% participation in both the Championship and Premier League, non in Division one.

Lucky for you that you don't bet then. No way are we going to spend 5 of the next 10 years in the Prem.

Never heard of those who do not learn history are doomed to repeat it?

and how have Wolves not learned from the League One experience? Please provide evidence of impending doom...

Well if we re-appoint that cunt Saunders I will make sure to dig out my road maps to Rochdale.

We're heading in the right direction and I am confident the two Ms have learned from previous mistakes meaning we won't see league 1 again. That said if we stay in the championship for the next decade , if we are competitive winning games, playing decent football the world isn't going to end either.

While wanting to see Wolves win every game they play i have to say that the most fun i've had at Molineux in recent years was the League 1 winning season.

I'm glad for you mate, happy memories. I remember when we came up the leagues from Div 4 with Bully scoring 50 goals a season, which I'll never forget, but I wouldn't want to repeat the experience.

We need to always remember good times, and then move on.

Couldn't agree more, like you and everyone else i want Wolves to win every game they play inevitably that will bring promotion to the Premier League, i'll be at Moilneux but i don't think it will be as enjoyable for me personaly as i've never been motivated by the opposition.

It's not about the opposition, not exclusively anyway - although the vast majority would rather watch us play Man Utd than Carlisle. It's about Wolves having the best possible team they can, with the best possible players, with the greatest chance of success at the highest possible level. People are living in dreamland if they think we can build a fantastic team outside the Premier League and then keep hanging on to all those players while we languish in this crappy division.

If we're still in the Championship 12 months from now I doubt Afobe or Iorfa will still be Wolves players for a start.

I would just like to see us win something reasonably worthwhile* in my lifetime. We haven't done that since I was eight. The chances of that occurring whilst outside the top flight are absolutely minimal.

*ie not championships of lower divisions or the Sherpa Van trophy modern-day equivalent.
