The Video Games Thread II - The Resurrection

Yessir, Mr Toon.

Will report later but a quick summary (which I expect to see in the double entendre thread):

Fuck me, it's enormous.

You notice he can't reply to you Toon.....he's already hooked and will never live a normal life again. He already thinks Skyrim IS his normal life!

:icon_lol:

Not quite there yet mate! Hard to give a proper opinion after only 3/4 hours of gameplay, but it's very impressive.

I'm tempted by Skyrim at £22, but I've never played a game like that before and have no idea what to expect. Anybody care to explain a little?

These Skyrim bargains have me tempted too, having flicked through what others have read it seems like there are some similarities to games like Fable? Only with much more detail? I could be tempted with something like that because i was a big fan of the Fable series, unless its bordering on Fallout levels of detail and intricacy? I just could get into Fallout at all, way too many little details in terms of weapons maintenance, personality traits, etc. for such a big game.

Simply - it's like no other game.

It's an open world for you to explore. You can do what you like.

There is a main quest - but you can ignore it if you like.

There are 100's of side quests - do what you want, when you want. There is no time constraint.

You can buy a house, marry, have a fighting companion, be a warrior, be a wizard.....whatever you want.

You can play it simply...you can get complex if you like.

It's big....very big. If you like exploring then it's for you.

There are also endless quests...it will keep sending you to do things in places you haven't explored.

The game will go on for ever....

It's a great world and it's a great game. For £22....don't hesitate.

don't forget the log chopping, cooking and flower arranging!

i've put the questing on hold 'til i've maxed out on sneak. didn't mean to play like this but it's too tempting.

level 17 but with a sneak of 76%.

hehe, next time i come a calling there's a few won't know what's hit em. probably need to sharpen up on one of the magic chains next - illusion maybe.

not started dreaming in this game yet but it won't be long. I bet HW is there already...

Basically it's World Of Warcraft for those people not quite sad enough to play that sort of thing online in a MMORPG.

Oh happy days...Invoice paid, some disposable income available, Game visited, RDR traded, Skyrim owned for £15, life waved goodbye to...

Should I buy this? I am due to some time off after a hectic Christmas period...........hmmmm decision decisions

Wicked!

We'll have a chinwag over the weekend to see how we're finding it.

Had another long sesh on it last night and it's great. Visually stunning (walking up a mountain with a ferocious blizzard looked great), the levelling up system is extremely deep but not too complicated, the characters are ace, the combat better (Huzzah!) and it's generally a bloody well polished game.

Enjoying it way more than I ever enjoyed Oblivion for some odd reason.

whats the difference that makes WoW sad, and this not sad? Apart from the fact you play this on your own, rather than with your mates... :p

Got Skyrim today, about to stick it in the xbox, although it ended up costing £40 as I went to the cash machine, took my card and walked off without my cash. Idiot.

So Toon/Nando/Mark...let me guess...

You loaded the game....you thought you would just have an hour or maybe two to see what it's like.
You played for four hours - then decided you needed to work/eat/run...

Whilst you were doing those other activities you were thinking about Skyrim.
So you got back and played a bit more.

It's Friday at 10pm - you're playing it now.

Tonight you will dream about it.

Only Man Utd Vs Wolves will drag you away from it this weekend......

As long as no-one took the money out after you walked away, then the machine will have sucked it back in and you won't have lost it.
