The Video Games Thread II - The Resurrection

Skyrim Update

51 Hours in.

Not really done anything.

Not completed any guild lines.

Fucked around a lot.

Just started the main quest (to get the dragons going..!)

Fought one dragon.

This is the greatest game I have ever played.

Is anybody still playing Fifa 11. I have gone back to this tonight and found a lot of things wrong. In the arena Kaka is fooked up when I mean foooked up he does run when I want him too the thing switches from one on one to then free kicks then onto penalties. I play an exhibition game and the ball now bounces off the plays upto 10 yards after a pass. I just cant pass without the other fooker controlling it like Kevin Francis. Has 11 been hacked and Fifa dont give a toss anymore ?

Just ordered Uncharted 3 from TheHut.

£25 free postage. Get in.

My work bonus has been spent.

I shall be entering Skyrim (and I don't mean I'll be shagging the box - I haven't reached Hereford Wolf levels of addiction just yet) very soon.

Rather excited about it actually.

Yes I just wrapped up the beta last night. Will be preordering and playing for a little bit.

It's nothing that special. It's WoW, with light sabers. I'll be bored of it in a few weeks.

I've heard they've spent a fortune on it so theres lots of depth - but having played wow for so long and got bored of it, I'm worried pretty much every game of its type will be Wow with X different weapon :gloom:

That's what happened to me. Even at level 3 I was already thinking "fuckin hell..." while runnin around aimlessly killing 6 of ______. I just can't stand MMO's anymore. Having said that, the story and interaction is way more interesting than WoW ever was, so it at least has that going for it. Unfortunately my beta invite wasn't until the final weekend, which coincided with Thanksgiving and being out of town, so I only got to play it for one night. Not terribly impressed from my limited hours, but I realize that's an unfair and half-assed assessment.

Anyone playing Zelda on Wii?

I've been hammering it this week and have put in about 18-20 hours and I'm only about halfway through. Great puzzles and use of items and weapons.

Another top Zelda game. No wonder it got 10/10 almost everywhere.

I love Zelda games - my favourite is actually the Wind Waker. One of the few regrets I have about selling my Wii. That and Mario Galaxy.

I sooooo want Skyrim. Last Christmas I bought myself Mass Effect 2 (I knew no other bleeder was going to buy it for me!) which was the best games decision I've ever made, this Christmas I do believe Skyrim will be my present to myself. I want it now, but can't afford it as I'm still waiting on payment for an invoice from October...Bloody schools, if they'd pulled their fingers out Skyrim would already be mine!

You think you are immune to Ms Skyrims charms, don't you?
You think you can resist playing 6 hours a day..(at least)?
You think you will decide to go on a quest and not be distracted by anything else in the game....don't you?
You think you're a clever bastard and you won't be taken in by Ms Skyrims distractions?

Well, you're wrong...WRONG I tell you.

..and don't come complaining to me on this forum when your life has disappeared down the plughole.
When you've got the choice between sex and Skyrim...and you hesitate....

Don't say I didn't warn you...it's a slippery slope....and you are at the top....

Do you play safe? Or do you slide........?

I know what you will do.....so you may as well bin all your other games. They are not worthy. You will not play them again.

You are........Dragonborn. Your real life does not exist anymore.

Your real life will be Skyrim.

So you don't rate it that highly then?

I'm feeling slightly dirty having read this HW. It's like we're intruding on an affair...

Not really..........

I wish I could get 6 hours a day on it. Unfortunately other things get in the way.

I'm still going about it the hard way - halfway through level nine and I have 5 unclaimed perks lol. I could make life a lot easier if I could decide on a character route. Run out last nite ended when I got wasted by a Draugr Scourge. I'll have the b*stard this evening though, he'll be crying in his bone meal soup.

After meeting up with a friend from high school (is that American? doesn't sound English) and getting hammered at the pub we decided to drink some more at my place afterwards. What resulted was a discussion about Skyrim and Oblivion from 4 to 6. Personally I love Skyrim but I'm with him in that I think Oblivion was better (at the time obviously). Better storyline, better setting and all the guild/brotherhood questlines which are pretty big were much better in Oblivion. I also don't really like the history of Tamriel since Oblivion (we're getting into serious fanboyism here), how the fuck did Summerset Isle more or less force the empire to its knees?

I'd like to read Hereford's views on this.
