The Road To Germany 2024

By all accounts Henderson is tremendous to have around the squad and is a leader, so I get it. But it obviously should be nearing it's end given where he is playing.

As for Maguire, no idea, he is not playing for his club, and he isn't playing well for his country, but in the grand scheme of things he's 1 player in a 26 man squad, far too much is made of it.

To me, we've more or less qualified already so he should be looking ahead to the tournament itself. Henderson is 33 and trains with crap players every day, he's only going to go one way between now and then and he's no longer an automatic pick anyway on ability. Should be thanks for everything and goodbye, there are more than enough players in there with tons of experience who often also have leadership roles at club level.

Klopp happily waved him off and picks Curtis Jones now, I'd like England to do similar. We don't have that many options to cover Rice specifically (so Phillips still gets in for now), we don't have that many centre halves either so if we squint hard you can make a case for Maguire still clinging on, but we do have plenty who can cover what Henderson offers (or more accurately, offered).

I sort of get that. But then when Southgate throws him on in a situation like he did v Scotland, he's actually making things worse.

As for Hendo, it's the same sort of debate everyone used to have when Coady was in there as a glorified cheerleader. I'm sure he's a lovely bloke and he's been a good servent. But we have to move on at some point don't we? We have leaders in the squad in Kane, Walker, Trippier, Stones, Rice etc. We've got an obvious future England captain in Bellingham. I just don't think we need to include him any more.

Scotland nearly there nevertheless that Spain line up is bang average and absolutely nowhere near the levels they use to be.
Just as I say that Spain take the lead, Scotland have had a goal ruled out but done next to nothing otherwise.
Fully expect the full on hard luck story tomorrow.

Horrendous slip then own goal make it 2-0

They were unlucky with the disallowed goal but Spain winning is a fair result.

Not 1 current or former Wolves player in the Portugal team tonight. I'd imagine you'd have to go back 5 years or so for that. 7 on the bench

Scotland qualify after Norway lose v Spain.

Decent result for Wales as well tonight. Beating Croatia to go 2nd in their group.

Looking at Group H, it's all up for grabs:

Denmark 13
Finland 12
--------------
Kazakhstan 12
Slovenia 10 (game in hand)

Finland:

Slovenia (A)
Kazakhstan (H)
Northern Ireland (H)
San Marino (A)

Kazakhstan:

Denmark (A)
Finland (A)
San Marino (H)
Slovenia (A)

Slovenia:

San Marino (A)
Finland (H)
Northern Ireland (A)
Denmark (A)
Kazakhstan (H)

Wouldn't like to call it!

(You'd imagine Denmark will win it with their only two away games being San Marino and Northern Ireland)
Kazakhstan won in Finland

Slovenia P7 Pts 16
Denmark P7 Pts 16
Kazakhstan P8 Pts 15
Finland P8 Pts 12

Slovenia (NI away) and Denmark (San Marino away) should win tonight though

Stones was more at fault ball watching

Stones worse than Maguire there. Got the Kilman disease of just being vaguely near the action but not actually doing anything.

England far too casual in possession.
Dion Dublin basically telling the viewing audience the blatant obvious, “it’s about end product”
