Intent has been removed from the rules hasn't it? Therefore its up to the referee to make the decision. Definitely harsh but if he doesn't handle it then Portugal have a goalscoring opportunity.

Depends what you want football to be really, a sterile environment ruled by the laws of the game without nuance or one that accepts intent or lack of. In the last WC VAR was trialed and it went well. In this one it's the same horseshit the PL offers up
