The NFL Thread

The minimum is $400k per season, not week.

per week :icon_lol::icon_lol::icon_lol:

way too much football manager for me. absolutely, per season. the squad salary I quoted however IS weekly. edited for derpness.

LeSean McCoy has just been traded to Buffalo for Kiko Alonso..... Assume Philly are going for Murray or spiller or someone in free agency then.

Isn't Alonso out for the season??? Baffling if I'm remembering that correctly.

EDIT: Seems his injury was last season... Man, it goes by so fast.

I was shocked by the trade and initially did not like it. But Alonso probably isn't a great fit in Rex Ryan's defense and the Bills got one of the top 3 RBs in the NFL. Spiller is definitely gone so RB was a need and McCoy is a big upgrade over CJ who really struggled last year. Alonso didn't play a single snap last season and Buffalo had the 4th ranked defense in the NFL, so despite his great rookie season I think the Bills definitely got the best of this trade.

What are the bills going to do at QB there have been rumours they are interested in Matt Cassel.

I don't think Cassel is likely, thank God. I don't think a trade for Nick Foles is completely out of the question but also unlikely. My guess is they are likely to pick up either Jake Locker or Matt Moore as stop gap measures and let them battle it out with Manuel for the starting QB gig. With a top defense like they have and a good running game with Shady McCoy the QB won't be asked to go out and win many games, simply do enough and I think Manuel, Locker or Moore can do that. This is a 9 win team already and with Rex Ryan I don't think they get worse, Doug Marrone was a horrible HC and his offensive co-ordinator was even worse so I reckon the Bills can win 10 games and be wildcard contenders at the very least.

You can have Cuttler!

Well I was wrong, just had Bills text, they've signed Matt fucking Cassel. Terrible QB, I hope he's not the only egg in their basket as I think he sucks.

Wonder what draft pick the Vikings get in return? With Ponder set to leave also we don't have any cover for Teddy at all really now.

Bills gave their 5th round pick this year and 7th rounder in 2016 for Cassel and the Vikes 6th round pick. It would be a fair deal if Cassel was actually any good, but he's not, he's terrible.

We'll probably just pick up someone like Hoyer up in free agency. Don't think finding a backup QB will be too much of an issue.

As for Cassel, he's passable if like you said earlier Toon you don't excpect him to go out and win you games. He should do a steady enough job.

Cassell is proof that Daniel Tosh is spot on in his critique of Tom Brady.

Need more info!

"Trent Dilfer with hairplugs"

How's Cassell fit in with that? Because the Pats hardly skipped a beat with him in there the year Brady was hurt. Brady's success is the system, not individual prowess.

That's pretty funny, and I agree that Brady's success lies largely in the system, a system where even Cassel won 11 games. He's also pretty damned good even though I hate him more than any other sportsman alive or dead...

Chicago Bears have traded Brandon Marshall to New York Jets and it looks like we got a "super" No5 Draft Pick off them!! :rage:

Mind you, rumour has it that Jay Cuttler is leaving too! :disco:

I thought they just signed cutler to a ridiculously overpriced contract?

Looking to shift some high earners from the Salary Cap. Apparently the new Head Coach wants a new start and it doesn't include Marshall or Cutler.
He seems to want Jeffrey and Bennett to be the future and wants to tie Forte down to a new deal too.
Marshall was, apparently, poison in the dressing room
