The NFL Thread

I feel sorry for you Toon, you so deeply care and are very knowledgeable about the sport, yet believe it to be fundamentally corrupt from the top downwards. If it is the case as you suggest (and my knowledge is nothing more than a Sunday night Sky viewer, so wouldn't argue either way although hope you are wrong), then you may as well watch WWF or whatever it is now called as it is equally as fixed, but at least no one pretends it's something it isn't.

Oh and my argument is not all over the place. It is straightforward. The Patriots have been caught cheating. Twice. They need to face severe sanctions. You are the one trying oh so hard to defend the indefensible.

Funnily enough, the licence to operate granted to the NFL is not a sports licence it is an entertainment licence, almost identical to that given to the WWE...

Don't feel sorry for me, I go into the games knowing that there may be more to what I'm watching than meets the eye. I still choose to watch it, with my eyes wide open, and I still love the core concepts of the game.

You have said that before Toon. Do you have any proof?

Officials touch game balls on every down do your theory of why they haven't been caught is still unproven. The reason they have been caught this time is because of an official not thinking the ball was right. Is every other official corrupt?

Belichick notoriously tries to get an upper edge and pushes the limits of the rules. Their team is entirely off the graph when it comes to statistical analysis. Seems pretty obvious to me.

I'm definitely rooting for the Seahawks tonight after everything I've heard about the Patriots, Brady seems like a bit of a nob too. Having said that Marshawn Lynch has looked like a complete bellend this week in all the media stuff.

Lynch has made me laugh this week. He hates the media with as much passion as he plays the game with. I think the Seahawks win this comfortably.

It's not so much that he hates the media that he hates the NFL for forcing him to talk to them. But you're right that it's hilarious either way.

The NFL fined him for wearing his own line of clothing at the SB Media Day though. They're really looking for anything to dick him around at this point.

Anyone got any bets on tonight?

I'm going for The Patriots on the handicap. They're -1 psi....

No chance of both teams losing, unfortunately.

Watching Brady celebrate is an absolutely vile experience.

Cracking game, Seahawks are properly banged up. 14-14 at HT.

What a stone cold drive from the Seahawks.

Hit the stage I always do, loved the first half, but now I have no desire to sit through 45 minutes of tedious half time wankery. If the NFL truly want to go global then this needs to start at a friendly International time. Lenny Kravits? less songs than fucking Chelsea fans, Katy Perry and her lop sided haircut, both things I couldn't give a fuck about at 1am.

It did make me laugh when Nate (C4 host) asked what Katy Perry has up her sleeve, my thoughts weren't about her songs....

The things I'd do to Katy Perry at 1am...

Great game so far.

Missy Elliot just made this whole ordeal worth it.

If she was at yours now though, no doubt she'd be upstairs asleep, whilst you were quietly downstairs watching the game, and making cranky internet posts due to being several hours past your ideal bed time!
