Jones left Luton before , headed to Stoke which proved a disaster . He'll be very wary of moving again .

Yeah, went to Stoke. Winter passed, Spring and Fall, then was sacked and realised he'd been gone from Luton too long. But whilst he was at Stoke, he never wrote, he never called...

He's grown in character since then, he used to be a shy boy.

Sorry

Googled it. Supremes 1971. I wasn’t born. Cover 1987 I despised pop music with all my existence and was rather busy with shit with guitars in it. Apparently it was on the Rain Man sound track. A film I have never seen or have any great desire to. Not that difficult to avoid.

Same. Literally no idea what everyone is on about every time this comes up. No inclination to find out either.

It’s a very odd appointment, Stoke fans really do not rate him but they’re a basket case of a club. Feels a bit like a ‘Beale’ appointment for me, but with more experience and perhaps less promise.

Big step up for Jones . It's not as if the Saints are mid table . They're in relegation trouble no different to ourselves , but this is the Premier League .
Jones rescued Luton from certain relegation in the season that was interrupted by Covid . It was a hell of a turn around at the time .
With Luton he has a dead safe job , but I suppose he feels he has more in him and needs to test that .
Would Luton take him back if he fails again I wonder ?

You've only heard of songs from since you've been born? Never understood that argument, agree on the pop music front unless were talking The Sweet

Like a few lads here I hadn't a clue what you were referring to when you first brought this up . Had to google it too , still made little difference , had never heard it before .

Hardly. It’s completely not my type of music either. It’s like me doing a “joke” on Nuclear Assault lyrics.

‘Nathan Jones‘ is the name of song first recorded in 1971 by The Supremes, which includes the line “Nathan Jones you’ve been gone too long”, which of course was too easy a gag to shoe-horn in at every opportunity.

A lot of people only know the Bananarama cover version released in 1987, which has spawned loads of other ’gags’ using different Bananarama song titles such as ‘Shy Boy’.

If you haven’t lost the will to live yet brace yourselves, because Bananarama had an awful lot of hits.

Anyway, in terms of Jones being a good manager, Luton took him back after his difficult time at Stoke so that’s really saying something.

I’ll get me coat.

It was released in 1971 but apparently recorded in October 1970. Yes, I have googled a lot to get my knowledge up. Still never heard it though.

Wonder if he will ask Mark Venus to be his Assistant?
