The Manager Sacked/Hired Thread 2022/23

Emery approached Mendes about the Villa job. So either he also approached him about our job and either we or Jorge said no, or he doesn't think we are as big as Villa.

Villa are currently a far better option for an ambitious manager. The sale of Grealish bailed them out of FFP issues and their owners are more interested in on-field success than running the club as a business.

Martins to Al-Gharafa, Carvahal to Celta Vigo and Liam Rosenior in at Hull

I do wonder how long Potter is going to last at Chelsea. They're probably worse so far under him than they were under Tuchel.

Looks like Southampton have sacked Ralph

Well he's wrecked it. I think they were the other Lopetegui option

If they appoint Lage then they're 100% finishing below us (and everyone else). Sadly I doubt they will.

There were rumours they were after lage, but I think that's bullshit
The owner has declared he rates Bruno but that was around the time we were challenging for the top 7

Apparently they’re all in on stats-driven blah blah blah, which I’m sure @Johnny75 will think means they’re a sure thing to fuck this up.

(Not arguing against you in this case tbc)

Haven't seen it work yet.

Yeah a lot of success with analytics has shown up well in recruitment so far.

I think in terms of on the pitch it’s probably been best used on set pieces (which clubs still get wrong plenty anyway, we are woeful at attacking them).

Didn't Benham's Scandinavian club, the experiment that preceded Brentford, go in heavy on set pieces? Seem to remember reading something a while back where they put a lot of effort into them, bought in specific coaches and it actually did provide reasonable uplift in results from them.

So Ralph has gone and Luton's Nathan Jones is their number 1 target

(cue the obvious reply to this news)

Getting ready to pack his bags and walk slowly down the hall at Kenilworth Road...
