The Manager Sacked/Hired Thread 2022/23

I can visualise Gerrard putting on really good training sessions, and being someone you'd want to work hard for. Lampard...not at all.

An old mate. Villa STH "The first time I hear “Steven Gerrards” Aston Villa on the TV I’m kicking my tele in
⚽️
"

That's really strange, Lampard has failed with two much better squads.

On paper Farke is a better manager than Lampard

Maybe they are hoping for a load of Chelsea loanees like he got at Derby. I think it would be an appointment celebrated by Derby fans as the 11 point season might well end up in play.

I think a championship promotion campaign with a clearly contender squad is exactly what Lampard needs. It’s the 27 odd games before it that are the issue.

Lampard didn't fail at Derby. I don't agree with the general view of him on here. He failed to manage big name players, that's not going to be a problem at Norwich. Not sure anyone is keeping them up, but I think it's a good appointment
He didn't succeed either though - Derby had been in and around the play offs for years and he just about scraped in to them.

They made the play off final after selling their leading scorer and replacing him with lower league players and (very good) kids on loan, whilst Morris started to close the purse. I live there it's universally agreed he did a good job, the only criticism of him was more around the media and the Frank Lampard's Derby narrative and some of the deluded feel he should have stayed

Was it Vydra they sold and got in Waghorn from Ipswich?

Fair enough - you seem to know more about his time there than me.

I've just got a theory that great managers tend to lean more socialist in their world view, Ferguson, Klopp, Guardiola, Shankly, Clough, Cruyff, the list goes on. Something to do with seeing the collective as stronger than the individual.

Lampard is a self avowed Tory, I just can't see him ever amounting to anything as a manager. In fact I'd go as far to say the exact personality traits that made him a great player will prevent him becoming a good manager.

Different sport, but Michael Vaughan is the best England cricket captain in my adult lifetime and he's an absolute right wing prick. I think it might have made a difference upto about 20 years ago, I doubt to todays players it does

I’ve read some rubbish on here and this is right up there with Papper’s nonsense.
