Mowbray on the brink for the crime of overachieving
Mowbray went to Blackburn and did really well with them for a few years despite having little money to spend . He got them well up the Championship table having brought them from League 1 .
Took on Sunderland after Alex Neil walked out, and in their first season back up in the Championship gets them into the playoffs .

No nonsense Manager is Mowbray . Liked him as a player as well .

He did relegate Blackburn in the first place.

He remains absolutely insufferable to listen to, has always been the same. How dare teams beat his particular brand of superficially nice football.
Came across very much like that post game yesterday, even threw in the old 'that's not how we'd play' line. He's still done a good job there though

He’s very popular there. I think the fans would be pretty pissed off unless they had a good replacement lined up.

Got them back up again and now they are a much steadier team in the Championship .

Listen - he's there to do a job , get teams up off the floor and steady the ship , bring back a bit of interest into the club etc . Blackburn let him run down his contract and they failed to make the playoffs this time .

He's far from perfect , has his own style etc etc........but there are times when that's exactly what a club needs . He's always have plenty of takers .

It's the Cult of the Right Way to Play innit.

Fucking Karl Robinson got plaudits for it at MK Dons. Arsene Wenger stayed at Arsenal well past his sell-by date because of it.

It's all a bit silly, IMO.

Walsall have done the old give the caretaker the job move and made Matt Sadler their new boss

My fave reaction from the Walsall fans is this

Fwa06YzaMAEvYzT

Yeah, like they've got 9 fans.

Good work from the new owners to finally get the ground and the club together (Bonser literally never had this in place, right from the day it opened) but they seem to have hit the wall that they'll always hit, it's a tiny club surrounded by much bigger ones and therefore realistically can't grow.

I dunno. When they say "my girlfriend and my sister are after a refund" that might still only be one ticket.

Flynn should have been a good appointment. His Newport teams weren't bad at all, considering they played on a cabbage patch. Form was truly rotten though.

He signed something like 17 players last season (Forest-lite)

Then they went to shit in January and he publicly said most of them are bollocks and will be replaced in the summer

Seems Spurs have now targeted Arne Slot as the next man to reject them

I'll reserve judgement until I hear what Dan the fick Walsall fan on WM has to say ya know (though I think he would accept anyone as long as Richard O'Kelly stayed on as 'Director Of Football')

Just had a check of Walsall's season. 8th on Boxing Day and had won 5 out of the last 6. Happy days, well poised for a playoff push at minimum.

Won 3 of the next 26 games.
