The Manager Sacked/Hired Thread 2017/18

Nothing to stop arsenal lining him up at the same time, I'm sure i remember reading end of last season that he was keen too.

Is Tuchel that good anyway? Dortmund now appear to be a shadow of the side they were when he took over, not sure how much part he has in that.

Btw, arsenal fans are deeply weird when it comes to David Ornstein from the BBC.

No guarantee Wenger was going then (pretty sure everything hinged on the Europa League...win that and he'd still be there next season) and PSG are a bigger draw than Arsenal as it stands. And they'll pay him a hell of a lot more.

Not much wrong with them in 2016/17. Finished 3rd, won the cup, quarter finals of the CL.

Following on from that Bosz was a disaster and Stöger was just a stopgap.

Remi Garde is in trouble in MLS. His Montreal side are bad. Currently losing 0-1 to 10 man LA Galaxy (Ibrahimovic sent off for slapping a Montreal player). The Galaxy are also bad, so this is a really bad look for Garde.

Pellegrini confirmed. That is a more than decent appointment. I don't think he would have gone there without the promise of funds to strengthen a very unbalanced squad.

Possible replacement for Chris Coleman at Sunderland is Chris Coleman

Won't they find his style too similar to the recent manager ?

Yeah, I think it probably is that. I don't think he would get them out of league 1 though

The emotional return to end all emotional returns.

Rowett confirmed as the new Stoke manager

3 year deal. Not convinced by that one. Stoke have a big summer clear out and recruitment session ahead, and Rowett-ball is hardly Holland 1974.

Doesn't need to be.

He'll build a decent squad with the resources he'll have and they'll be top four. Easily the best placed of the three relegated teams to go straight back up.

I'm not sure that is actually a high bar

Swansea look like a complete mess, and fuck knows what the Albion owners are going to do over the summer. And their squad is fucking ancient.

The big plus for Stoke is that Coates has plenty of money to invest while they sort out a squad. Plenty will be leaving, plenty will be joining.

The budget at Stoke will be similar to what Newcastle had when they came down then chuck in the ££ they will get for Butland etc. Derby have said they are cutting their spending so Rowett would be daft not to make this move.
He needs to be a success though or he spends the rest of his career bouncing around mid table clubs.

Coates is a tight bastard. Hardly spends the cash (his daughter owns Bet365) and is renowned for being not popular with the clayheads. The head of recruitment has had a Thelwell-esque couple of seasons and is a lucky man to still have his job as he keeps buying dross.

I think Rowett's in for a shock.
