The Manager Sacked/Hired Thread 2017/18

Lambert will get another gig in the chumps i guess..just how crazy this circus works

Lambert was clever last season and again this one with what he said (had leaked) to the press. He has protected his arse pretty well to ensure he will get future gigs.

Villa - At the end it comes across as he was dealing with an owner who wanted out and screwed him over
Blackburn - The owners are fucking mental
Wolves - Dumped by mad foreign owners who wanted Jorgey to buy all our players regardless of what he wanted
Stoke - Club was properly fucked before he got there.

Will be at somewhere like Birmingham by Christmas

Moore is a mistake, he won't see out the Autumn. Classic caretaker manager appointment, he improved them because they weren't trying for Pardew, wasn't so much about him, just him not being Alan the spiv.

I hope he does ok, just so clubs will start to take a few chances rather than recycling the same old shit (Sam, McClaren, Pards etc)

Dean Smith wouldn't have been the usual brigade but plays good football, knows the division and has the experience to do the rebuild they'll need, given his Brentford side keeps getting dismantled As he's an Albion hero the fans will give him time, but I just don't see it happening.

This for me also. Nice to see Albion going for someone different rather than the same old faces, and nice to see an English coach being given a chance.

That said I do think Dean Smith would have been an excellent appointment for them.

No sooner has the season ended that it seems premier league clubs are lining up to sack their managers. It is crazy.

I know there are worse managers out there but dont rate him in the modern game of football at all...

He's very good at securing the mutual consent line when the last two Summers everyone knows it was a sacking. Moyes is going to Stoke apparently, that seems a decent fit.

Moyes and Stoke in the Championship. Okaaaay...

I think the three relegated are staying down this year.

I do genuinely hope that Darren Moore does well, though. Seems a genuine bloke, and he clearly bleeds albion blood. My worry is if it goes wrong and damages his reputation there. Like it would here if we had ever employed Bully. Biting the bullet to get rid of a hero and a legend in that situation is going to be like shooting Bambi.

Yeah this is how I see it, it’s good for the game to give a young manager a chance when he’s earned the right. It’s hard to see him being the next pep based on the way he played and the teams he played for but it’s better than the same old shit manager merry go round.

True, but what about the clubs left behind by Messrs. Wenger, Allardyce and Moyes. With Conte to possibly follow them next week.
Moyes only had a deal until the last game of the season. He may not have been interested in staying on and the owners think they should be above Man City.

Sam. A daft contract to give him but the club backed themselves into a corner with their pursuit of Silva. He held all the cards knowing a hefty pay off was coming his way in May. The fans hate his football style.

Wenger. Arsenal had to do something. Successive seasons without Champs League and plenty of empty seats. He probably should have gone 2 years ago.

Conte. More down to him than Chelsea. Think he wants Man City type spending but they won't do that.

You might add Hughes to the list soon. His deal at Southampton has expired as well. Interesting to see if they want to keep him.

With the exception of Blackburn all of his excuses are as clear as day to see through yet nobody bothers to take the froth off the Banks's and see how shit the beer is beneath it.

Bit shoddy of Rowett to go to Stoke in my view. Blues binned him because he sat on a new contract for 6 months, perhaps they were right? Had a par season at Derby and then does one because he needed to cut his cloth.

Meh, if it's a better job then it's a better job. That said you can't keep doing it because it'll catch up with you eventually.

Stoke need a fair amount of work doing to the squad but if the money's there...they should have a better chance than Derby next season.

If McGhee had done what he should have done with us then his call would have been justified. As it turned out, he was rubbish and he never recovered. But that's the gamble you take and as a manager you have to back yourself.

I'd say Rowett's bigger challenge is proving he can send teams out to play in a less reactive manner.

Just to add, if you end up being successful as a result of your job-hopping, it all gets forgotten. Who really talks now about Steve Bruce being management's Littlest Hobo in his early years as he hopped from Sheff Utd to Huddersfield to Wigan to Palace to Blues, all in the space of about three years?

Arsenal appointing Unai Emery, bit of a left field appointment, especially when they could have had Tuchel if they had pulled their finger out.

Nah, Tuchel was lined up for PSG months ago. As soon as they got knocked out of the CL.
