The Manager Sacked/Hired Thread 2017/18

What's their best team at the moment? Something like:

Cech (definitely on a fairly steep downward curve, second choice is bobbins too)

Bellerin (talented but stagnated of late)
Koscielny (getting on, on the way down, allegedly struggles to play two games a week now)
Mustafi (airhead)
Monreal (decent enough)

Xhaka (terrible signing, doesn't destroy, doesn't create, card machine)
Ramsey (has bursts of great form, spells where he does nothing)

Mkhitaryan (still huge question marks over him in English football)
Özil (infuriating bastard)
Aubameyang (class)

Lacazette (plenty to work with although still some rough edges)

That's nowhere near, is it. The squad options behind - Chambers, Wilshere, Holding, Iwobi, Welbeck, Elneny, Kolasinac - aren't top drawer either.

For us to achieve our aims next season (top 10, let's say), we need less than Arsenal need to achieve their aims (top four).

I can see Ancelotti getting it - unless he wants the Italy job

Lives in London and says he prefers club football for now. Could be waiting on Arsenal or Chelsea.

According to reports, Roberto Mancini already has the Italy job and will take over on May 20th

After 'new money' came into the league firstly through Chelsea and then City I think he became obsessed with trying to win the league without spending much and developing players through the system or buying young. It became a rolling story of next season without the those young players ever being up to standard or him being capable of making them what he needed them to be.

Nailed it. Transformed Thierry into a Worldie, and tried to repeat it. Repeatedly reported Arsenal had £200m+ to spend in the Summer, and one year was the only top flight European team not to buy an outfield player.
Rafa a good shout.

Klopp's comments today are seriously poor. Criticise your own team for throwing it away, rather than perversely deflecting the blame onto a club who 'don't need the points'.

Plenty of rumours that Stevie G will be announced as the new manager of Rangers very soon.

Rangers also signing Arfield from Burnley and McGregor from Hull

With Gary McAllister as his assistant

I genuinely had to switch WM off when driving back from matches and his Birmingham post-match interview came on. Just in case I suddenly fell asleep at the wheel. Miserable monotonous bastard.

Nerrr comment (when he doesn't understand what that means).

He's not quite as stupid as Saunders but he's not far off.

How would you seek to replace Mick McCarthy, someone who with a negative net spend of £13m over five and a half years has had Ipswich punching above their financial weight, one of the most seasoned managers at this level you could hope to have?

I know, you'd interview Sol Campbell.

Has he done his coaching badges,or is he like ince, thinks he'll get the job on reputation and colour?

He's done some badges and is working towards his Pro Licence. Fair play for that but he's just an incredibly strange man. No way is he cut out for management.

He’s an oddball for sure, but he’s clearly keen to have a go at management.

I hope someone finally gives him a go, just to shut him up about black managers at every job going.

This looks like it's happening.

The problem with taking over there is that you're under pressure from minute one. You're expected to win literally every game. And yet there's a team in the same league who are massively better than you, and you don't have the resources to catch them unless they really fuck up.

Being a solid 2nd, getting to the Europa Group Stage and winning a Cup will be his first requirement. Sounds daft but that is where Rangers should be. They know they are to far behind Celtic to properly push them at the moment.

I guess the gamble for Rangers taking someone who has only coached an U18's team is the name. Attract some half decent players who will dump the Championship or lower end of the Prem League to play for Gerrard and they have a chance to achieve the goals.

The benefit for him is that he's looking at a really low bar in terms of recent managers. McCoist, McDowall, Warburton, Caixinha, Murty. It's a horrific list. So doing a bit better than them shouldn't be hard.

The board surely know they are way behind Celtic at the moment, they will have plenty of Ra People roasters in the fanbase who insist that only 1st place will do, mind...

Their recruitment has been diabolical of late, that needs sorting. Whether they leave it down to the manager alone or set up a better overall system.

Arfield and McGregor should be decent signings for them
