The Manager Sacked/Hired Thread 2017/18

I feel like Swansea have the players to not be in the shit as bad as they are.

You reckon? They look awful to me. Bony is completely gone, Abraham is very hit and miss so where are the goals coming from...they still use Dyer and Routledge which looks so outdated now, they were fine five years ago but not now. Van der Hoorn, Olsson and Naughton all get games at the back and they're all crap. Midfield is full of lightweight clones. Keeper is decent I suppose.

They've sacked the backroom team aswell, so someone is coming in straight away. If they appoint Pulis that kills all their 'identity' talk. Unless he signs them in Jan there's not a squad there he can do his thing with.

Agreed. That creek and paddleless springs to mind.

Very harsh on Clement. Over the last year Swansea have had their Premier League standard players sold with (relatively) little money to replace them. A player involved in more than half of their goals sold and not at all adequately replaced. Goals are coming from nowhere. The fact that they have made a profit on transfers these past two summers says a lot. Though to be fair the players that they have signed this summer are terrible. Only PL level player they have left is Fabianski. You would assume they will now get Pulis, quite the fall from the nice football they used to play, and even he will need to be backed significantly to save that sorry lot. New owners have really messed Swansea up.

IMO they should go with:

Fabianski
Naughton - Mawson - Fernandez - Olsson
Ki - Mesa - Fer/Sanches
Narsingh - Ayew - Routledge

It's far from a "good" team, but there's enough in that to not be adrift at the bottom, I feel.

A couple of solid buys in January and I think they can stay up. Of course a lot depends on the new manager as if you ask the team I've just posted to try to set up shop it simply won't go well. They have to at least try to get after their opponents. Accept that they'll get slayed by the top 6 for now but at least have a go.

EDIT: I appreciate the gentle way you've told me I'm talking shit on this one. :icon_wink:

Sky reckon Koeman or Bilic in the frame for Swansea.

Swansea are trying to persuade former Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal to become their next manager after sacking Paul Clement. (Daily Mirror)

Koeman has ruled himself out apparently.

Newspapers this morning speculating about Bergkamp.

Must be an Asda on Swansea surely?

Fired from Ajax yesterday so an easy link to make if you have to fill a few lines in a paper.

Murty gets the Rangers job until the end of the season.

Been some good competition in the "who can mess up a new manager search" race.

Sevilla sack Eduardo Berizzo....Just 7 days after he returned from cancer surgery.

Merry Christmas Eddy!

Wolves search for a replacement for Mick still takes some beating..

Agreed

As soon as Curbishley changed his mind we were utterly clueless. I think the new regime have it sorted rather more successfully thank the maker.

Bruce was close but the fans reaction made them back off. After that, I think we asked Walter Smith if he fancied it and he gave a swift no.

Everton came close to our attempts and in the end had to pay massive £££ to persuade Sam.

We were down anyway. No-one was taking that job. If Swansea don't move quickly and Little Leon doesn't get any results then they'll be in a similar boat.

The crime was going for Llewellyn in the first place. The laziest man in football, even beating Three Day Ince.
