Caldwell is a very brave move. Mike Pollitt assisting suggests the Wigan board are going down the "ex-crowd favourites" route to keep what is left of a pissed-off fanbase onside. Eric Black though? :uhoh2:

Really is shocking how poorly they've done with some of the players they've got, but I imagine from the outside most people said the same thing about us when we went down.

Forget the outside, I still say that team should never have gone down. Attitude was the issue, not ability. Oh, and having first a manager who knew nothing about the English game and who commanded no respect amongst the squad, then a joker who I wouldn't have managing a pub team.

He was only on a part-time role as an advisor, and apparently has got something permanent.

Its all about results these days..fans and media are pressuring the boards to act..some sackings i do understand and some i dont..

Given the huge disparity between leagues (which is to say, the huge punishment for relegation and huge reward for promotion), I suppose it's understandable that some owners have such itchy trigger fingers. Incredibly high stakes in Euro football.

Fry has lost the plot down here. He's made some appalling decisions recently.

City being linked with Sabella :icon_lol:

Ancient and never managed in Europe, what's not to love.

Give Koeman a chance

I'd love to see him in the Premier League. Citeh will obviously be linked immediately.

He has asked to be released from his contract and wants a sabbatical apparently.

Sad times.

Must be difficult constantly having your best players picked off at will even when you're right at the top of the league though, they just look broken this year, so many stupid mistakes at the back and nowhere near the intensity going forward that they've had in recent years.

Wouldn't surprise me if there was a bit of an exodus of their remaining top players this summer, Hummels, Gundogan and Reus would all easily find plenty of clubs greeting them with open arms.

That's a shame. I wonder how long the sabbatical will be and who he'll go to - even though Dortmund have been nowhere near the force they were I don't think his reputation will have suffered to badly and clubs will be prepared to wait for him.

Sounds like it might not be a very long sabbatical at all. Klopp has said he has no intentions to take a full year out, and he will be at Dortmund until the end of the Bundesliga season. He will be at the Etihad by the end of July I reckon, at the latest.

Personally, I think he would be the absolutely perfect fit for Arsenal as and when Wenger retires.

I love Klopp - I think he'd be great in the Premier League and I reckon the British media would take to him really well.
