The Manager Sacked/Hired Thread 2014/15

I agree. Looking at RAWK I think Brentdan has lost the support of a large chunk of the fanbase. The fact he was tactically outgunned by Tim Sherwood has gone down phenomenally well.

the bbc website has a poll on who will be liverpools manager next season.
Are the knives out?

Reports that Gianfranco Zola is lined up to be the new Brentford manager...Is he really an upgrade on Warburton?

Bigger name...

Glen Hoddle, Graham Taylor...Bigger names than Graham Turner but it didn't do anything for Wolves. Sometimes owners get too hung up on the "ex International footballer"/"big name" thing.

I suppose the theory is that he'll be able to attract better players.

Zola just comes across as a bit of a yes man to me. He'll have a great effect to start on the Brentford players (we will definitely get the 'he could still be playing he's that good in training' line) but once he needs to back it up with knowledge and experience it will be interesting to see how he does.

He's Italian. Owners are Italian. I liked Zola, seemed a decent chap at West Ham, but events there also showed he really isn't that great a manager.

Matthew Benham owns Brentford. I think you're confused with Orient.

Whenever I have listened to Matthew Benham he seems fine, clued in as it were to the demands of football and does speak with a lot of sense.
Yet he bins Warburton.

He wants to move forward with a more statistical style of recruitment I think? That's where the disagreement seems to be with Warburton

They also want a DoF in place, Gianluca Nani was at the game with Zola on Saturday, worked with him at West Ham and Watford, with extremely mixed results it has to be said.

I don't think Zola is managerial material really, he's too much of a nice guy. Look at Jackett, he comes across as very personable in his interviews and shows a good degree of class when he engages with the fans but make no mistake, he and Gallen can be tough bastards when they need to be.

They already have a Director of Football, do they not? just termed in a different way I thought. 'Sporting director' or whatever Warburton was before than McParland is now (before being put on gardening leave himself)

I guess if Brendan Rodgers did get the sack at Liverpool the likes of Sunderland and Newcastle would be in for his services. I wonder if West Ham would ask Brendan?

Agree about that. Really seemed to affect his players discipline when he was at Watford. A lot of stupid red cards and sloppy goals conceded.

Anybody in the world but not deano...his comments after the game was his highlights hehe

What happened to Zola at Watford? I thought they really looked a cut above under him the year we went down.

Neil Harris gets the Millwall job on a permanent basis.
