The Manager Sacked/Hired Thread 2014/15

Baffling stuff from Steve Parish at Crystal Palace. Tony Pulis achieves the nigh-on impossible in keeping them in the Premiership and the board won't give him what he needs to strengthen the squad. Sure, some of his buys at Stoke were genuinely awful but that's not the point. Crystal Palace will finish rock bottom of the league this season barring another miracle.

After what he achieved at Selhurst last season, Pulis deserved to be given the opportunity to improve his squad. Yet another chairman/owner with little knowledge of football.

An Iain Dowie-esque manager will get the job which would be horrible for the league and the palace fans.

Sweeping statement. We have no idea what Pulis was asking for really do we. Should a club do what a manager asks regardless? (obviously all this could be over them refusing to spend a few ££ and they are a bunch of morons)

Read that the chairman wanted Zaha back, Tony didn't but wanted 5million for other positions.

If its over £5M then its a crazy move indeed. I guess numerous media outlets will be giving their versions in the next 24 hours.

They agreed a £3m fee for Jack Cork today. Kelly will be a coup if he stays fit and Campbell was an astute buy for 800k. They've shown already that there is value in the market. Vast expense guarantees nothing.

Ask for extra transfer funds >>> give club ultimatum >>> you have been fired

Except Pulis can't reload the game from his last save.

fuck, i just hope Speroni will still be nr 1 this season

At least Mark Robins lasted one game. Madness, just plain madness.

You don't know what he was asking for, Frank. At least let the club make a statement before you condemn it. He's hardly been sacked on footballing grounds.

Welp, that's Palace relegated.

We'll see. If he wanted multiple millions then Palace have been sensible.

Reading between the lines, it sounds more like a control issue and Pullis pushed too hard for what he wanted. So not necessarily money.

Old style Fergie type needs to control everything Manager versus new style Chairman, it was always gonna end in tears.

Pulis will be back in work round about the end of November when a Premier League side finds itself cut adrift on about 5pts, could be a Club pretty close.

Not if he wants full control over everything...

That could be it. The days of the old manager are numbered now - if clubs are to be managed responsibly then no one man can expect to come in, rip everything up and start again with new players and new staff. Models like our own are going to become much more common going forward.
