Not sure the head coach will change any time soon, but we really need more (quality) bodies in the coaching team generally, surely?

We'd need to lose every game for GON to be gone in October.

I just can't see it, he's neither Lage or Saunders levels.
Been down this road before. I disagree he is Lage levels.

We could lose every game between now and the end of October.

Luton away is the only game I can see him maybe getting a point from.

The wording on Nunes' departure on the official site is somewhat telling!!

No 'good luck for the future' for you, Matheus!
The oldgoldpack have got some time to knock up a “bucked toothed wanker” banner before the Man City game.

Flair players are great the 1 time out of 10 something comes off. How often do we sneer at other teams and say man for man we wouldn't take any of them, yet they outperform us in goals and points. Just look at Newcastle when Howe first took over, or Brentford.

Maybe a few more consistent but steadier performers won't be such a bad thing. And we've still got the likes of Cunha, Enso and Neto to provide that bit of flair now and again.

And hey it could be worse, we could be paying £22m for Alex Iwobi! 😮

Newcastle have got plenty of steady performers too: Burn, Joelinton, Schar, Trippier, Longstaff, Targett. You need the right balance of flair/reliability in a squad. I'm not suggesting we sign eleven Che Adams's or eleven Mathues Nunes's, we need a balance of both.

Blues fan I know loves Adams, obviously though, Bellingham aside they haven't seen a great deal of quality lately.

But he says whilst his finishing is hit and miss he's strong on the ball, never stops running and is surprisingly good in the air (as we all noted from that header at Molineux 😂)

So maybe as a last 20 minute option off the bench he'll be OK.

I'd sooner sign him than not have that option.

To be honest, just the possibility of having reliable performers off the bench will be a refreshing change. How many times over the past couple of years has there been zero competition for places in certain areas of the squad?

There's no denying a downgrading in managerial, coaching and player profile since the days of Nuno, and now we're probably not far off the likes of Bournemouth on and off the pitch.

We should be charging nearer Bournemouth prices for season tickets in that case though.

Anyway, still doesn't mean we can't compete OK in the short term, and (if you're really optimistic) this could be a reset with more ambitious investment to follow if we stay up...?
Our squad is much stronger than Bournemouth’s. Full stop.

Adams is very much a 'meh' signing for me. Good to bolster our attack but it isn't a massively exciting signing. We could certainly have done better there.

Underwhelming - so I hope he proves me wrong and scores plenty.

Jean-Ricner Bellegarde’s (25) move to Wolverhampton Wanderers may be in jeopardy after RC Strasbourg Alasace had turned down the Premier League side’s bid for the midfielder, according to Les Dernières Nouvelles d’Alsace.

Sky confirm Qatar interest in Podence. Qatar window closes in a couple of weeks so can be completed after today.

Sheff U, get the better of the 2 Man City players then. Don't know why we didn't insist on him instead, would offer something different whereas Doyle offers depth to an area where we have better players
Not sure I agree with this assessment. Sheff Utd fans, who have seen a lot more of both players than any of us, pretty much universally agree that McAtee is a player who can do something special once or twice a game, but that Doyle is the much more consistent of the two. They also seem to suggest that McAtee might get bullied a bit in the PL.

Appreciate for our squad make up it would be nice to have a more attacking minded midfielder that offers a bit of flair, but I think that's why we've signed Enso.

Fulham were never going to accept an insulting bid of £4m for Reed. He's worth 3 times that in all likelihood. So that's a non starter IMO. Maybe if Palinha had stayed.

Bellegarde sounds all action and more similar to Nunes, but Strasbourg (owned by Todd Boehly btw) don't want to let him go. I guess that will depend on how much the player kicks up a stink and how much we push for it. It'd be nice to have someone who can come on for Cunha in games so we don't overstretch him though.

Che Adams I can take or leave. If its just a loan as a bench option in case of injury/suspension then that's fine I suppose.

Ask yourself why City are prepared to let the one go, but not the other?
