The Incoming Transfers Everywhere Thread: Summer 2023

Squad is looking like it’s got depth but a very average Jo depth. Good enough to stay in the league but nowhere near the level to get even top half. I’ll take it considering I had use nailed on for the drop 3 weeks ago.

The wording on Nunes' departure on the official site is somewhat telling!!

porting director Matt Hobbs said: “I was disappointed with how it ended, it wasn’t necessary the stance Matheus took, but we ended with a good resolution for everyone. Matheus is a hugely talented player but would admit that last season he didn’t hit the heights he expected, but it was a tough season for the team, so maybe he wasn’t allowed to do that.

“We’ve lost a player with a lot of potential, a lot of ability, but the situation has led to us bringing a greater number of players in to improve the squad and provide competition in the group. The players here want competition in training, so while we’ve lost a good player, it’s made us a more competitive and better squad overall.”

No 'good luck for the future' for you, Matheus!

So are we signing the new players just so that we can have an eleven vs eleven in training?

Isn’t the issue about transfer money that Fosun are not able to invest any more money into the club. That was the gist of the postings by The Accountant. He said that their lenders would not allow them invest in companies that would not provide a return.

Doesn’t the FFP limit of 105m loss over last three years only apply if the owners invest 90m?

Without the investment isn’t the FFP limit only 15m loss?
yep i think that was it. though as that the £105m = P&L losses i guess technically you could have the following scenario.
Year 1, buy someone at £50m using a shareholder loan, amort at £10m pa (5 year contract).
Convert £10m loan to equity in year one to match the amort as that's the only bit to hit the P&L at that stage.
If before end of year 2 you make a sales of > £40m you could repay the loan balance of £40m.
If that's allowed then they could have paid down fosun loans with the neves/collins/coady etc cash. not saying they have done.
i don't know the rules so could be pie in the sky, but otherwise there's obv no cashflow issue if you have £100m sat in the bank.

The rules are...

E.48. If the PSR Calculation results in a loss of in excess of £15m then the following shall apply:
E.48.1. the Club shall provide, by 31 March in the relevant Season, Future Financial Information to cover the period commencing from its last accounting reference date (as defined in section 391 of the Act) until the end of T+2and a calculation of estimated aggregated Adjusted Earnings Before Tax until the end of T+2 based on that Future Financial Information;
E.48.2. the Club shall provide such evidence of Secure Funding as the Board considers sufficient; andE.48.3. if the Club is unable to provide evidence of Secure Funding as set out in Rule E.48.2, the Board may exercise its powers set out in Rule E.15.
E.49. If the PSR Calculation results in losses of in excess of £105m:
E.49.1. the Board may exercise its powers set out in Rule E.15; and
E.49.2. the Club shall be treated as being in breach of these Rules and accordingly the Board shall refer the breach to a n constituted pursuant toSection W of these Rules (Disciplinary)

Players linked with us:
Holding - in talks with Palace
McAtee - Looks like he is joining Sheff Utd on loan
Sheff U, get the better of the 2 Man City players then. Don't know why we didn't insist on him instead, would offer something different whereas Doyle offers depth to an area where we have better players

Bellegard , Adams , Reed.........all possibilities at this point . Hardly all three , but you never know .

There's a distinct lack of flair now isn't there?

Whilst many had their flaws, Adama, Neves, Nunes, Raul and Podence were all capable of the unexpected, and have all gone/won't be seen in a Wolves shirt again.

Is it that they didn't mind Doyle going with an option to buy, whereas that isn't available for McAtee?

I’d be fuming with that announcement. Weak in comparison to others. Media team must be otherwise engaged 👀
Yes - but do you remember Costa's one , bit over the top with the dogs at time for a player who wasn't even fit then .

Not even sure if the players care a whole pile either , probably just want to get on that training ground .

I don't think Sheffield are getting an option on McAtee - it's purely with a view to developing City's talent for them.

Podence and Adama and Nunes.............rarely produced quality . All clubs need a high number of players who will put in a shift week after week , those three didn't .
