The Incoming Transfers Everywhere Thread: Summer 2023

Being hugely optimistic that we have a plan in place...surplus this summer to ensure we have £20m-£40m to spend in January if required?
I think Nunes gives them that flexibility, in a break glass in case of emergency kind of way. We have been linked with a couple of £25m players in the last 24 hours although not with any credibility, let's see if one of those materialises today

I thought it was triggered, but as a July deal? The commitment became solid, but the transfer went into this year.
I guess we'll find out in March next year.

Either way it isn't on new players and the P&L sheet will look very good when the Chinese Ashley's sell up.

It did.

His permanent deal at Wolves started on the 1st July.

So his fee minus anything we paid to loan him is included this summer.

You sure?
Actually no...

Reading around some places put him as joining permanently in January but we are buying him Jota stylee and some say the 3 games activated the obligation to sign him in July.

As you say, will have to wait to see where this officially lands.

Doesn't change anything mind as we know FFP was a small part in our summer plans, hence Plan B for Lopetegui
Everything after that was the owners choice.

If we spunk all of the Nunes money then what was the FFP line about?
you're asking the wrong person!

But, if Nunes was a lump sum up front payment it gives us tons of potential under FFP.

I'm not saying i believe the FFP line by the way

It wasn't directed at you Andy, just at the potential 25mill signing.

It's all very contradictory.

The FFP line from the club, the figures suggest it's bollocks, but them rejecting 30mill for Kilman and spending the Nunes money once we get it also don't paint them as awful as we thought?

A few days ago I fully expected them to bank the Nunes money, as did many on here.

But they aren't?

Don't know much about him, but from the videos I have just watched, he sort of looks like the kind of midfielder most of us were expecting Boubacar Traoré to be?

Wouldn't be surprised to see him come in today, which then opens the door for Boubacar to be loaned out somewhere for the season to get some regular football (GFFH hinted at that yesterday, too).

yep, the 'logic' would be that the business up to Nunes has sorted out any FFP issue and his sale then triggers the scope to buy. £20m+ profit which in amortisation terms on 5 year deals is the equiv of £100m spend (ignoring wages).

But that suggests there were genuine FFP issues, which the vast majority of people on here say is bullshit, and the figures suggest are bullshit.

So what are the club up to?
