That we couldn't even tie down Benfica to a loan with option tells you everything really.
They got the option they wanted, the option to return him...

This is how bad my footballing life is.
That’ll go down well.Sounds like we’d really like to bring in Josh Brownhill before the window shuts.
Never given a chance...Ah, that's a shame...
Its as if Adrian Chiles and Frank Skinner are controlling us on Football Manager- Sign an ex-player back on a free transfer when we were all delighted to get some money for him in the first place
- Sign a journeyman lower league goalkeeper to "make up the numbers" on the advice of our goalkeeper coach, who then leaves the club a week later
- Have deals agreed (or be close to) players like Elvedi & Alex Scott but then say we don't have the money
- Spend the rest of the summer chasing Aaron Cresswell & Josh Brownhill when we're desperately short in other areas
- Turn down £30m for Max Kilman, promote him to captain AND give him a pay rise
- recoup the best part of £100m in transfer fees and offload a load of high earners, but enter the last week of the transfer window having not spent a penny
- let your manager leave in the week leading up to the first game
Only Wolves. You genuinely couldn't make it up.
