The Football News Thread 2017/18 - everything not Wolves

Surely assuming that all the relevant information is already known is just as harmful as doing nothing about what we already do know?

The common misconception is it was because of heading the ball. It wasn't. Doyle was concussed several times in head clashes.

As you can't diagnose anybody with CTE without slicing their brain up then yes, they have to be dead. We can prove that heading a football doesn't have enough causation to cause CTE and concussion (different to having a ball blasted against your head).

Fair enough.

I think you are right on education. But then that applies to so many things in football I wouldn't know where to start.

Sadly the FA and PFA are abysmal at keeping people educated on the game they represent. They should be much better at it and I'm sure an educational marketing budget bolstered by, say, £1.5m would have a large impact on the game through coaching and general education. I'm not sure the leaders of the organisation would be up for voting their wages away on that though.

Not assumptions, tested science.

Aston Villa accounts.

Wages £61 million in 2016/17 to finish 13th in Championship. Spent £88 million on players.

holding company accounts show the club lost £800,000 a week last season before taking into account profits on player sales.

Buying the league...

Remember Al Fahim briefly owning Pompey, and this being the start of their decline?

Jailed for 5 years in Dubai. Turns out he bought Pompey with 5 million quid he stole from his wife.

but he passed the Fit and Proper test

He was proper Premier League in terms of sham owners. An absolute moron and a proven fraud (even before this).

If you do a tiny bit of digging you can find some dreadful footage of Piers Morgan fawning all over him, serious journalist that he is.

He also fronted a world chess match and basically fooked off with the loot. Definitely fit and proper.

Rumour is 5 players stole a taxi?

Jonny Evans (30), Gareth Barry (36), Boaz Myhill (35) and Jake Livermore (28) are the fucking idiots.

Not exactly young fools are they?
