The Football News Thread 2017/18 - everything not Wolves

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-norfolk-42265978

Norwich fans told to sit down at games, or capacity could be reduced after consultation with H&S folk.

Is this something that could affect us with the South Bank in the future?
Happened a few years back in the South Bank where there was a push to make us sit down. “Stand up if you love the Wolves” was sang just when the stewards had thought they’d done their job.

Ian Holloway talking about Kemar Roofe after his QPR team was beaten by Leeds... "Did you see him out there? (I didn't... sic) He hardly had a touch" (Roofe scored a hat-trick)

Cotterill said after losing at Fulham yesterday that the team has been on a slide recently and now he's probably feeling the brunt of that.

So basically - they were shit before I got here.

More from Steve:

"We do all the work through the week. What do you want me to do? Conjure all of a sudden a bucket-load of goals?

"Do you not think I would have done that by now?

.......

"There was nothing special about their ball across the box was there? They just had somebody on the end of it."
There's probably a clue in there for you Steve.

Seven minutes in and Per Mertasacker has had a nightmare. Collapsed to the ground for the Austin goal, tried to play offside for Austins second chance, then plays everybody on for the offside which was level..

Juventus v Tottenham
Basel v Man City
Porto v Liverpool
Sevilla v Man Utd
Real Madrid v Paris St-Germain
Shakhtar v Roma
Chelsea v Barcelona
Bayern v Besiktas

Some good ties in there. You'd have to back at least three teams English teams to make quarters. Chelsea a tough ask but Spurs are capable of beating Juve this year.

Real Madrid v PSG is the tie of the round for me.

Some really good draws for the British teams there, about the best they could hope for in avoiding the "big guns"

Basel v Man City
Porto v Liverpool
Sevilla v Man Utd

Hope we get Liverpool, one of the few teams that I like that I never saw live, if we do I´ll probably try to see if I can go to the away match as well.

Oh yeah!

Now let´s hope I can manage to take 1 day off from work and also get a ticket for the away game!

Arsenal v Ostersunds in the Europa League - that is a great tie! I've just been reading today more about their rise under Potter.

Östersunds weren't even formed when Wenger became Arsenal manager...

Dortmund vs Atalanta and Napoli vs Fizzy Leipzig look good ties.

Statue unveiled in Calcutta today... if Keegan had lifted the trophy in 1982!

I will be hoping that our feeder club beats Liverpool.

Get French Football

The French football financial regulatory body (DNCG) has banned Lille from buying players in the January window.
Le Parisien report this morning that the current lack of financial health that Lille is exhibiting is so poor that the DNCG are heavily considering relegating the club to Ligue 2 automatically at the end of the current season.
The irony is that because of the DNCG's ruling yesterday, Lille might be forced to retain Marcelo Bielsa if he continues to demand a €9.5m pay-out. That is quite simply a pay-out that Lille cannot afford to give.

Lazio fans weren't happy that Ciro Immobile was sent off against Torino at the weekend. They then found out the referee owns a cafe, so down voted it to 1 star on Trip Advisor.

BT and Sky have done a deal to sell their channels to each other from 2019.

Sky customers will be able to add BT Sports to their package and BT subscribers will get to buy Sky Sports, Cinema & Atlantic. No idea on pricing though
