The managing director of Oxford City Football Club has been found dead at the team's ground.
The body of Colin Taylor was discovered by a member of the public at about 09:20 BST at the Marsh Lane site in Marston.

And people think Wolves fuck up!

About time

Starting this season

Yellow cards will be issued to players who:

Show visibly disrespectful behaviour to any match official
Respond aggressively to decisions
Confront an official face to face
Run towards an official to contest a decision
A yellow card for at least one player when two or more from a team surround a match official.

Red cards will be issued to players who confront match officials and use offensive, insulting or abusive language and/or gestures towards them.

Good - I just hope the refs actually apply these rules. And I honestly don't care if it means carnage for the first few weeks of the season with red cards ahoy. They have to stop it and I hope they clamp down on it properly.

They are the same directives that have been in place for some time. The problem has been getting referees to enforce them, and that applies at all levels of the game.

It's almost like arguing about EVERY decision is now just part of the game - it's just totally unacceptable. I really hope they enforce these rules in the strictest possible way. It's the only way to get through to players/coaches that it's wrong and they need to respect the officials.

There are regular meetings where referees are reminded of their responsibilities. They are there to enforce the laws of the game, but I can then go out and watch a referee and see him/her allow dissent and even abuse. It is a long road, but hopefully this will improve.

Regarding players and coaches. All clubs are told of their responsibilities, but despite assurances that they will control their players, as soon as the game starts it all returns to normal. It is really is quite simple, all clubs, again at all levels, should be told that the team captain is the only player who can question a referees decision, and that must be done in a polite and courteous manner. Though of course some referees do not help themselves when they come across as arrogant. It is a two way street, and all parties must work together to improve the behaviour at football games.

A slight aside here, but this is something that has always made me really cross.

Should referees be referring to players by their christian names during matches? I fail to understand why they do this. if they're only doing it to players from one side, how on earth is that being impartial? We saw it time and time again when we were in the Premier League - the bigger names being treated like mates by the officials (Lampard not being sent off for almost breaking Hammill's leg as 'he wasn't that kind of player' being another, slightly different case when the challenge was totally overlooked in favour of a ridiculous pre-conceived view of the individual).

Why can't they adopt the same approach as rugby, and if they need to talk to a player, address him by his number and shirt colour, meaning all players on the pitch are given equal treatment?

Referees should not refer to players by name, but it does happen. Though it should only occur if the referee knows players from both teams. We advise new referees to get into the habit of referring to a player by his shirt colour and number.

Regarding incidents such as Lampards, it makes no difference what kind of a player anyone is. If they commit an offence that is serious enough to warrant being dismissed, then a red card should be shown.

Of course - which is why I was so angry when the ref that night (can't remember who - it wasn't that fraud Halsey was it?) said after the game that he didn't send him off because he knew he wasn't 'that kind of player'.

It happens on every single game you see on the telly - refs calling players by their christian names. If they're not supposed to be doing it, why do they?
