Quite an interesting list. Some have done well, some less so.. Jordan Henderson described as a right sided midfielder or inside forward shows just how players can develop into different roles!

Josh McEachran was on the list, I watched his brother George (16) play for Chelsea u18s against Southampton u18s today. He is a talent just like his brother was at this age. Wonderful vision and composure.

I would like to ask our esteemed correspondent DW for his views on Red Bull Leipzig given that they are now three points clear at the top of the Bundesliga and might bear a passing resemblance to MK Dons in their formation. A blog post beckons?

I can't stand them. But maybe it's me that's the one that's out of touch...as demonstrated a couple of years ago when I was banging on about MK.

If I get time I might write something.

Christ.

The state of it.

Outstanding stuff from FIFA

Football Association of Wales confirms one FIFA charge relates to 'Some supporters in the stands wearing a poppy.

Danny Drinkwater has been charged by the FA following an incident in Leicesters game at Watford. I think he can expect a three game ban.

Was any action taken over the Republic of Ireland's use of a logo, worn during a game against Switzerland in March, to commemorate the centenary of the Easter Rising?

They are under investigation for it. FIFA had no idea (apparently) until someone at their FA stood up for us and used that as an example.

FIFA are "looking into it"

Fines for the wearing of poppies in the stands???

Really???

Tell them to fuck off.

I am not sure that would go down very well....

Fuck the corrupt bastards, they are seriously taking the piss.

The home nations should withdraw as a point of principle and tell them to shove their petty punishment up their arses.

How such a disgusting and corrupt organisation can adopt some kind of moral highground over traditional acts of respect and rememberance is beyond me

I totally disagree with any action taken over the poppy wearing, but we cannot withdraw. FIFA are the administrators of football globally, and no individual country could take such action. We would be suspended and kicked out of the 2018 World Cup.

Frankly, just don't pay the fine, don't recognise their authority to punish and keep playing the games. What are they going to do realistically?

Also, as this causes an annual stink, maybe FIFA might want to move their bloody international calendar so remembrance weekend isn't an international week.

Not sure that'd make a difference Paddy, they'd just wear the poppies on the closest fixture to 11/11. Preston had a guy on the pitch playing the last post on the 19th.

And that is where I start getting a bit pissed off at the whole poppy thing. Do it on the 11th, or do it on the nearest Sunday. None of this other stuff. It seems HUGELY overdone now, and that has become the case only in recent years.

It's a very recent thing. We played Sweden on 10th November 2001 - no poppies on the shirts.

FIFA are hamfisted buffoons, but the degree of mawkishness surrounding the subject every year is just as irritating.

Agreed Sir. I consider the remembrance commemoration to be a very important part of the calendar, but it must be at or near to the 11th November. I thing the football authorities should issues guidelines regarding this issue. Charging associations for wearing the poppy on the shirt does not do FIFA any favours. They should drop the investigation immediately.

I agree on the mawkishness point. I choose to not wear a poppy. I don't expect white feather treatment for that, but it is heading that way. I can have my own moment to think about war dead (including members of my family) without sticking a poppy on.

Equally though, if the poppy is being associated with one match on the weekend of remembrance day then we should do it and stuff FIFA.

The charge against the FAW for members of the public wearing poppies when the FAW wore only black armbands is absolutely fucking disgraceful though. I hope the FAW simply tell them to fuck off on that one.
