It's a simple but poignant sign of respect so I don't get it either. In the case of players like James McClean who refuse to wear one, I suppose we also have to respect his views even if we disagree with it.
I do think it's an important event to commemorate but at the same time I find it's a bit overblown on social media. Almost mawkish.
Agree with this. I'm all for remembering those who died protecting freedom. But this latest facebook bandwagon is just that imo. It isn't a traditional thing that football teams all wore poppies on their kits, it's a recent invention. Wonder if the cricket team will all be wearing them too?
