Only a matter of time before this fucking nonsense wormed its way into football. I absolutely hate the way 'entertainment' is unnecessarily shoe horned into sporting events. The match itself should be all that's needed, why the extra OTT bullshit? Just get on with it FFS. It's one of the reasons I dislike the NFL so much (that and I find watching the actual sport itself worse than cricket).

An event to open a tournament like the World Cup or Olympics is rather different as that's a great opportunity to display and celebrate a bit of national identity/culture as the eyes of the world are on them for a few weeks but this is just money making bullshit that has jack all to do with football.

I did like 'Arry's stint in charge of Jordan, won the first game 8-0 against Bangladesh then got panned 5-1 by Australia. H basically called the players out as shit and that he/they never stood a chance which you wouldn't think is unreasonable...until it's revealed that Jordan beat Australia 2-0 in October. Oops.
