I'd say Stearman, Sako and Dicko were all better than McDonald last season. I think even Afobe had more good games than McDonald.

It was between Macca and Sako for me. And we played worse without Macca than we did without Sako. His influence in the middle of the park and the way he dominated midfield possession for us was what made me vote for him.

Kmac wasn't in my top 5 last year although his influence was apparent when he did and didn't play well
I don't include influence in my decisions simply because for me he wasn't influential enough

I had Stears first, then any from Sako Dicko Afobe and even Iorfa

He was poor first half of the season, but was a lot better second half. Evans was better first half of the season.

He was definitely our best player away to Bournemouth. In fact I think I commented in my verdict how I felt sorry for him in how badly he had to carry the team that night.

And that's your prerogative Bear.

I hate this superfan bollocks, there's many a fan who has watched every game since 1901 but still know nothing about football. So I take their opinion with the merit it deserves. Give me an educated opinion over an ignorant one any day of the week.

As I say, it's not a card I like playing and I think anyone who has read my witterings over the last decade on various fora (poor people) would know that. My fortune in being able to go to loads of games is neither here nor there. However when someone annoints a "Player of the Season" which is completely at odds with what I have seen I think it is pertinent to ask how many games that person actually saw, because surely they can't have seen enough to know either way. It'd be like me giving a fulsome, definitive verdict on who Newcastle's best player last season was - say, Coloccini - and arguing the toss with their season ticket holders when it was quite clearly the wrong choice.

McDonald was genuinely unselectable around November, he'd got in a horrible habit of knocking all his passes way too short, he was truly abysmal at home to Forest.

I'm not having a pop at you DW and I can see your point. However, Bear's player of the season was McD on the short sample of games he watched. Nothing wrong with that really. Whether it's a credible opinion or not is for people to decide. However, if Gary Neville were to watch 5 games and say the same thing would people think differently? Again it's only an opinion.

I happen to agree with you about McD, at no game I saw was he MOTM and I would agree in Nov he was beyond awful. It is no coincidence that at the time we were playing a midfield containing Dave Edwards and Lee Evans and one Leon Clarke or Danny Graham as the front man. Nothing for McD to aim at and very little for him to pass to off the ball. And if anybody had just watched those 5 games the POTS award would have been very different.

My point was the 'superfan' nonsense which is usually:

'I've watched wolves for 9093856138754873654821376 years home and away'
'I give my all for the lads'
'I support my team through thick and thin'
'The lads worked hard for the fans today'

And other such bullshit which proves that one fan loves their club and has seen more therefore is qualified to give an opinion on the football they have watched.

Agree with this. His pass to Afobe for the go watching live was sensational.

I think, and still think, Dicko is our most important player. Take him out of the team and we are in trouble. Next on my list would be McDonald. There are several games where he was excellent, that I went to. Fulham away, Charlton away in particular he ran (though Evans was my MOTM in the Fulham one). Brentford away before his red card I had actually thought was the best he had played since before the terrible run. Blackpool at home I would have said he was MOTM too.

I don't care how many games you go to, I'm not having any of it if you'd rather watch Karl Henry than him.

I liked Cameron Rae and ince - but never mind McDonald, I'd have price and Evans ahead of Karl Henry.

Then you are wrong if you are talking about the Karl Henry in his first 4 years here. Last two I wouldn't argue

I have no doubt of what he brought to the team. He was an absolute hero in those seasons you mention, but I still know who I'd rather watch play for Wolves.

I was on about McDonald mate! Evans and Price I like (I particularly rate Evans and hope he gets himself back on track) but still very early in their careers.

Sorry, I was replying to PQ's comment. Henry was a decent to good player at one point, let's be honest with the exception of Edwards (and hopefully Coady), no midfield player in our squad would have scored THAT goal against Charlton. Karl the enforcer ate himself in our second PL season and became a liability thereafter.

That goal was magical, one of my favourite goals ever!

I think he become almost a parody of himself! Which was a shame because he had been great up to that point. I didn't like his attitude from then on at all though.

That's just stupid.
